I concede we have had a number of threads regarding postage and parcels but yesterday I had a conversation with my postie that saddened me.
I take very good care of my postie, he knows he can use the loo, get a brew or a bottle of water on hot days and always gets his Christmas bung from me. Hence I get my post no matter what, we have a good arrangement that works for both of us.
He asked me if I was waiting for any "second class post" I am but it hasn't been sent yet. He then explained to me as to what was happening at our local depot. That scourge of British business "middle management", they are at it again, destroying one of our institutions. They are being told to ignore all second class stuff, letters and concentrate on small packets and tracked stuff as that makes the money. I just knew that once Evri got involved it would go south. A name change cannot turn a company around, if it was a Carp company, it will remain so. Just before Christmas I sent some tooling out that I had sold and on two occasions the packet arrived but the contents were missing, both times Evri. Hopeless doesn't cover it. I can see the Royal Mail becoming a real casualty here. Danish Post have delivered their last letter so other countries are bound to follow.

I've sent 2 parcels by Evri this week so I'm keeping my fingers crossed

We get first class post 2 or 3 weeks late most of the time, often if we have a recorded letter as well that seems to be the trigger to deliver it all

I have just removed the gate post mounted postbox, this is because we have a long drive and is meant for smaller letters, but bigger and bigger ones have been forced into it. The final straw was ruining an A4 certificate, in a card backed and clearly marked DO NOT BEND envelope
The "investigation" is ongoing, however City and Guilds were good enough to send out a replacement, in an oversized padded envelope

I had similar a couple of months ago, the postman delivered a signed for parcel and I asked "no letters?" he replied he had been told to do parcels only, he was a bit miffed and showed me a pic of his 'frame' which was overflowing with post. I had noticed a day or two earlier that he was crossing backwards and forwards across the road delivering, where he normally does my side and later works back the other. A couple of days later I get a bundle of letters, hardly a consistent service.

I've just put one in to evri this morning...no major value to it but not the point...

Maybe there is a market for a decent courier now?

Evri have an arrangement with the Post Office and not with Royal Mail. Evri have recently linked with DHL to form an even larger competitor to the Royal Mail which is probably why they are having to prioritize the more profitable small parcels. Having had problems with both Evri and DHL, I wouldn't use them - appalling contempt for customers who dare to try and complain . Royal Mail would still be my preferred service (for the moment!).

I ordered 2 items off eBay last week. One sent by Evri and the other by Royal Mail tracked. Evri was with me next day. Royal Mail despite it being tracked 48 still shows as dropped off at Post Office since Wednesday. I don’t usually have a problem with either but will have to start a refund on Monday for the item that supposed to be coming by Royal Mail

My SGS order still shows as label created with FedEx on 21 Dec but I have had that refunded and won’t be using SGS again.

Sending parcels you have a choice, if your receiving it doesn't matter the poor old seller will loose out

I've had 2 things delivered this morning by RM, 2 different guys delivering...one brought me my car battery in a van, then 40 mins later a guy on foot put my bore gauges through the letter box...I have some stuff from rdg tools due between 1 and 4pm as well, all parcels, all RM...makes no real sense to me, when I was doing palletways stuff we used to put all the similar addresses together and if we had multiple things for 1 address it all got lumped together for 1 delivery...

Royal Mail has always and grass roots still is a fantastic service letters and parcels, which if not carefull could fall into the stay at home shopper bracket and be so thinned out with that many parcels then the poor posties will bear the brunt of it...

ours was 3 weeks late all in a bundle with next doors as well wasnt our local postie so not his fault , last year it was 2 missed apointments and a snotty letter from the tax office on overdue payment is no one held accountable these days

As others have said, EVRI is truly awful. I don't understand why they are still in business. Comms are awful, delivery is awful, lost parcels are common.

our evri delivery mans real fast the dog got out and chased him out of the gate and it bit his ankle what we said was if our vehicles are in ring the bell and leave parcels in front of door and leave vehicles not in take parcells round the back . gave him 20 quid for christmas so was well happy
