Better than the Chinese or Russians but still not ideal!British business now owned by the Czechs....
Do we even have much british owned these days? it seems everything gets to a size and then get bought for foreign companies, is it just greed? ARM for example, their chips are in everything then got sold to SoftbankBetter than the Chinese or Russians but still not ideal!
I noticed over Christmas that RM vans were rentals from Practical, I assumed it was just because demand was much higher over the periodMy partner is a postie for RM. 10+ yrs ago it was a great local job with good working conditions, team spirit and effective low level management. People took pride in their work and looked after their kit.
Slowly, and now more quickly, it's been hollowed out. Underfunded, understaffed and hamstrung branch managers force the team to prioritise the most valuable deliveries and delays the rest. It's no longer a job with pride and a team effort to deliver a good service to the local population. Vans are wrecks that no one cares about. Many are just hire vans.
However, our office has just been allowed a few new hirings. Long overdue but maybe there is a bit more investment floating around.
I notice a lot of Ali-X stuff is warehoused in the Netherlands, so very quick delivery. Even the stuff from China is often in Europe within four days.
Potentially posties that are too pushed to meet the delivery targets of signed for items are scanning them as attempted so it looks like they're meeting the targets. We had an interesting one yesterday with the post office, text message through stating delivery attempted, but we were in and no post, so looks like they are delaying delivering items, on the hope most folk will be out and none the wiser.
No intention of shooting the posties, or complaining to be honest, just an observation.Potentially posties that are too pushed to meet the delivery targets of signed for items are scanning them as attempted so it looks like they're meeting the targets.
Dont shoot the posties, they may have been told to do so. Branch managers the same from higher up and so on. Do call the local office and complain though, if whoever is deciding this is ok can do so without complaints, it'll only happen more.
This is the very statement which has the far north of Scotland in uproar, courier companies do just that, royal mail do not discriminate against location, obviously it depends where the mail is getting sent from, the logistics are in place anyay. One of the worst things for RM is that they've a universal service obligation, so are obliged to post a letter/package to North Uist for the same cost as one to Reading. Yet they have to complete with others that do not. As far as I'm aware, despite this unfair obligation agreed to when privatised, they don't get extra cash for this uncompetitive ball and chain.

Nothing is really British anymore unless it's a small company, still find it ridiculous that jaguarlandrover got a government bailout after the cyber attack that almost crippled them... When they outsourced the IT security to themselves in India!Do we even have much british owned these days? it seems everything gets to a size and then get bought for foreign companies, is it just greed?
