That looks a nice statue.
As said, a couple of ratchet straps - but put one around the neck once and back to the SAME side. Then the otherside the same. Plastic then lightish wooden frame with diagonals.
Basically if you have a crate delivered and it is fully intact with no signs of damage you should be ok. If the item inside is then damaged it is bound to be the way it was packed. Would you put a ming vase loose in a cardboard box? It has happened! Not a ming one but it was pretty expensive and there was no packing at all...........
Yours is an awkward shape so fix some battens around the base - wooden crate or frame over the top and then fill with void fill or shredded paper in bin bags.
You need to cushion the bottom as well - place it on some thick polystyrene sheets or something - even old carpet.
Remember 95% of breakages are down to packing.
Yeah right
I remember the last thing you packaged, it would have withstood a Kim Jong Um attack, was a brilliant job and appreciated but I bet your ears were burning while I unpacked it.![]()
Lay it on a car/bike tyre on a pallet. Tie it down with rope.
It won't fall over if it's already on its side and it wont crack off the edge of the base when they drop it.
Also a good way to get rid of unwanted tyres...
What about Polyurethane Liquid Foam. Cover doggy in plastic bag, vacuum to dog, make a separator and then fill the cavity?
If anyone is sending a big bit of machinery don't be afraid to ask the driver to strap it. You could also put a huge sign on it saying - STRAP THIS!
I did cringe when he put a strap over the table - but he didn't do it too tight.
Delivered ok thank goodness. View attachment 118101
wow small world! I've got a bandsaw just like that one!
wooden frame around the statue then across the plinth at either end to stop it moving/lifting
That's the way I would probably do it, then well bubble wrap and cling filmed plus insurance
Probably the easiest way to pack one of those dog castings is a pallet box.

They are delivered flat packed usually. Just look for pallet box on Ebay - once used are often for sale.
Put a few screws through the base into the corners of the pallet for strength. Put a few battens in place on the bottom to secure the base and then fill it with binbags full of scrunched up newspaper. You can often pick these boxes up for less than £10 - I once bought a load for £3 each but all gone now!
Tesco.? Poor choice. Lolyears ago i bought a 2nd hand pc motherboard chip and ram with heatsink when it turned up it was in a tesco carrier bag
