Friend of mine bought his first landy, and it came with a hi lift. I told him when I got a spare hour is show him how to use it. Lo and behold he wanders off up the lakes to get the landy bogged so he can try recovering, hi lift comes out, motor is jacked up so he can pack the ruts out, jack is switched to lower and he takes the first stroke........ And wakes up 5minutes later with an almighty headache and quite a bit of claret. Hadn't realised that you lower the weight on the up stroke of the handle. He just cranked the handle down till it clicked and then relaxed his gripThe legend within the Landy world - the Hi-Lift jack. Horrible things, used at Pay 'n Play sites by numpties. I've seen folk changing tyre with them and on one scary occasion saw two lads crawling about under a 90 trying to wrestle a spring back in to it's seat after it had popped out. OK if used correctly but it's a tool that has 101 ways of maiming you and only one way of safely jacking up your motor.
