Newbie help! what welder for a sculptor?

I've got suitable TIG torches in stock Ratty. They basically just plug into the front of your machine, have 1.5 Metres of extended gas hose fitted which just connects to your argon gas regulator, and you control the gas on/off with a valve on the torch handle.

Excellent weldequip! and this would work ok? Dare I ask how much? On top of that I guess I would need a regulator (how much?) and of course the gas. I guess I could try playing with a disposable bottle, do you sell those too? Also would the same regulator be usable for a proper tig set up? S'cuse my complete ignorance.

Actually more like 15+ years old! but don't worry too much, a decent price for a good machine.

I'm dead impressed W'eq, just taken the back off the m'tronic and the test date on the circuit board is 28-09-92 - I'm assuming it was tested at manufacture date and not later which makes it 15 years old this coming September. I shall be lighting candles if it lives (and just the one if it doesn't ).

I love your hairy dog Si, my little Gus is sadly no more, this is a memorial pic (eating windfall apples) in memory of one eccentric, quirky, bizarre and much loved small dog who died far too young and who I still miss like crazy. I'm mid-way thru a sculpture of him, may post a pic when I'm done.

For some reason I decided to do a bit of back reading..came across this and thought I'd post up not the piece I mentioned here (which I'm still working on) but a second one in Gus's memory. Title 'Gusto'. More about his spirit than a portrait and he used to do this mad high stepping trot like a little hackney pony. This is mainly made from wood collected in the Australian desert which is extraordinarily hard

So basicly this long thread has receomendations to use, TIG, MIG, oxy, and Arc for sculpting? I'l throw in my two pence worth and recommend brazing and soldering. Now if somebody wants to go mad and recommend plasma arc welding, we can finish up.

All those recommendations on how to fix metal together and I do this But I have used weld and braze rods to construct it...thin I know but that's my argument and I'm sticking to it.

Don't forget to also recommend a plastic welder . I have one, was nice for fixing cracked fairings on the bikes.
