Hi! I have a whole heap of questions!...I've never used a mig although I own a good AC arc welder. It's good for a lot of what I do but can be a bit brutal especially on very small areas.
My sculptures are made from found objects which can be a mix of metal, wood and plastic so gas welding is not an option. A friend suggested I get a Mig as it would be more controllable for small areas and easier to use than an arc.
I am looking for something that is capable of welding everything from a couple of nails and thin sheet to larger areas of agricultural steel as well as managing st/st, aluminium and bronze (can you get bronze mig wire?).
I do have 3 phase (what is the advantage? is there one?) but only one outlet in my studio at the moment which would restrict where I work so a single phase is preferable unless 3ph has huge advantages. I wouldn't be using it continuously (nor very often) but I do want a good machine (and NOT gasless!!) with a non-live torch (that much I know - but not much more).
Any advice gratefully received - make, model, current range, whatever!
Many thanks
