True but in a 3 bed house with only 2 of us I doubt it will be necessary, plus it's only going to be single skin garage so would need redoing anyway

Exactly how my garage is built!

mines a double brick wall no gap between the bricks and no damp from the walls

the only issue was a single wall that had damp on it well did as i built a second wall at rear of it in concrete block now no damp on that wall

and i heat it with a rocket stove and it cooks me out of there

shed can be heated from just this as my stove is bigger and its too warm

as shed is only 10 x8 and insulated roof

hes dead and buried whilst i was in scotland grand daughter and her fella was asking alot of questions as we helped them out alot to find stuff

we have new neighbours and there ok they just like there bushes instead

+1 for floor insulation I find cold feet limit what I can do in my workshop these days in the winter.

Not much difference but iv got a wall appearing, with openings for front side hu g doors and rear door, these were yesterday, currently abit higher, he's aiming for roof height by Friday.
Then next week gas meter move and get rid of last bit of old garahe and fill in the floor section.

I went for 3m deep, steel reinforced footings on that corner of the house Extra concrete costs way less than fixing damaged footings in my head. The cost difference was only about 400 quid. And when they dug it out it took less than an hour to see about half a metre of water at the bottom which had to be pumped out and a plastic liner dropped in to allow the concrete to set before it got wet again.

All I'm saying is be cautious.

Standard practice round my neck of the woods is 900-1000mm deep trench, 600-700 mm wide (depending on width of wall) with 200mm non-reinforced concrete as the footing! How does excavating three times as much spoil, then filling with reinforced concrete cost only £400 more?!! Also we get in after the excavator and make the trench nice and square and level as the excavator is a bit of a blunt tool. At 3m deep that'd need propping and take some doing!

which way are you doing the roof as i presume your going from the left to the right with a wall board drilled to the brick work

if your are becareful of those bricks as they will be the holes in them and there a git to get a grip on them

however if you was using the pillars as a beam rest you could drill holes in the wall and slot your beams onto them and run them front to back

I'm assuming it's going to be similar to my old one which had a button on the house wall over to the garage wall, the old one wasn't even fastened to the wall when they came to knock the roof boards off from underneath it lifted the whole thing , it's flat roof either rubber or fiberglass weather depending apparently due to each been different Upton temperature apparently. Ie rubber hard when it's cold and fibreglass hard when it's hot..

or does it slope away from the house either way a flat roof or a sloping roof to the side

as goes for roof materials its your choice

fibre glass is down to the weather not good if drizzerly same goes for rubber and the temps can affect it

you could put a metal roof on it if its slopping away from the house dosnt matter which way you choose as you will be boarding it

this was predone before i got to it but shows you can fit it on a shallow roof slope

When i say flat there will be a slight slope, as apposed to a pitched roof. Not sure how much of a slope but there will be one.

Slowly slowly...
Stud wall is up for the bog, roof is on and rubbered, just the end plates/finishers to fit, he ordered those today so early next week,
Last bit of old wall taken out and floor filled in (no pic yet)
Aco drain fitted to the rear and flaging put back down best they could.

Sparky due Monday plumber Tuesday, plasterer..no idea but hopefully will he done by month end,

Ordering my doors tomorrow which should be here late next week

Think this is due a little update, not far off completion now (apart from doors which is just a cluster&^%k of a process)..

But lights sockets are all in, toilet with sink, external taps all in, roof on just needs trimming then abit of guttering

I do have an issue with 1 of the strip lights that I need to message the sparky about, it doesn't come on at 1st click but if I turn them off and back on it does.

Depends on the soil and machine driver. In the clay ground that requires these deep footings there should be no clearing out. No toothed buckets needed so comes up nice and clean.

This is quite shallow as away from trees but same goes for deeper. Noone has cleaned these up by hand.
