You're moving too quickly - I've detected mission-creep nowthis is something worth thinking about
Works when done correctly with the right conditions.makes me laugh having a soakaway .dig a 6 foot hole and fill with gravel and wot happens .
which is very rare. they put land drains in the playing fields at back of my house witch is the same height as my garden it always flooded . i told them its a joke but who am i to tell the expertsWorks when done correctly with the right conditions.
YupThanks - I'm also interested in the speed aspect.
Was yours a concrete one?
I run mine into a large water butt from gutter at rear it acts as a buffer, it then has a long hose that redistributes the water away from the garage, it's outlet is constantly open, it's never overflowed. Thanks for the suggestions and advice so far.
Next question: What do I do with rain water?
There's no convenient drain, and we have previously tried to dig a soakaway in this general vicinity, but ended up with a big clay pit with no bottom in sight. Can I just let it run off into the stoned area next to the base? (I'd probably fit gutters to stop water staining, etc.)
Id be inclined to do more than 4” too. But it depends on your ground conditions. Mines about 6 inches at one end bit more at the other. Then a 6 inch slab with fibres too.4 inches of mot under the slab is that ok?
I did my own groundwork for my slab and had 8 inches under the slab as that was what was recommended by the concrete company, though my slab was 6 inches with C40 with fibres as I didn’t want re-bar to cause problems for the mounting of my 2 post lift.
Fibres in the concrete should be fine, I’ve had no issues with cracking on mine 5 years on, but I’m not a builder!
It's building regs that would kick in - again, not too onerous, but hassle I'd prefer to do without.I dont understand this fear of planning.
I have, but I'd like to build close to my boundary (<1m) so needs to be 'non-combustible'.Have you considered timber?
Thank you again - still working through all the previous threads / videos!put ibcs down the sides to collect water and slowly drain them into the ground is what id do
I have a Compton's concrete prefab. It was put up in 2 days...very impressive....it's also around 30sqm.Have pretty much decided that I'll get a pre-fab.
