Seriously hoping its got some practicality over the Discovery 5 else as a serial D3/4 owner since its launch I have nowhere to go as far as the Land Rover lineups concerned.

I'm curious but I bet it won't be anything like the original. They killed the original for a reason.... reduced sales and emissions and safety regs.

Are the Santana made Spanish Land Rover Series no good?

@rcx132 yep the Defender whilst great had to come to an end. I was holding out for the D5, I had one on pre order but sadly had to cancel due to practicality concerns for the dogs (confirmed after numerous extended test drives). So the Defender is my last hope, personally I hope its a D5 up front with luxury and tech but with a decent load space. Also looking for a decent Engine line up, petrol PHEV would be great.

yep, following the mule spotting on the Disco forum. Numerous sightings of cut and shut Range Rover bodies on the mules. SWB and LWB spotted

Its the 70th anniversary of Land Rover on April 30th 2018. Most motoring publications and all the Land Rover magazines are sure it'll be Monday. It makes the most sense to do it on the 70th anniversary of when it all began.

@gav0994 yes I understood it was on the anaversery but I thought it was 2019 this was mentioned to me by a very close relative who is a principle engineer @JLR but then again I may of misunderstood him unless that is when they will be available on the market

santana are sort of regarded as a "series 4" rather than a defender, theyre a sort of halfway house between a s3 and a 110

We had a load of mainly Defenders invited to site last Saturday for a "photo opportunity" on one of the car parks, the result will be revealed on Monday 30th.

Oh how dare you! I’ll have you know my wife loved the gear stick fountain that splashed her nice dress when i belted through big puddles. I considered that a feature!

Did some reading on them this morning, and Wikipedia say that Santana don't make anything anymore. I thought they were still making Land Rover copies, must have mis read that.

I beleive Iveco bought them and produced their version badged the Iveco Massif. It was short lived and i dont think available anymore.

Had a v8 bobtail Disco a few years ago, ex mrs and I were going to a friends for tea so were all dolled up. Drive through a large puddle slightly “enthusiastically” and was impressed when the force of the water peeled the bottom of the door out and a tidal wave went up the passenger side

Just spoke to a mate whose boss has been to the factory and seen the new Defender. He had to leave his phone in reception. He was mightily impressed and they are looking for something with a bit of utility to it.

He didn't say much more than that it exists as a working prototype which is common knowledge anyway.

I don't know his boss so his idea of what a utility vehicle and mine may differ buts my mate loves defenders so here's hoping it's not a hairdressers car.

A development of the defender with doors that fit, a heater that works, some sound deadening more elbow room, better fuel efficiency, various body types and a hybrid option is what I want.

Oh, and half the price of a new Disco
