So to the task in hand. First is to cut that joist out for access and put a trimmer across the top. Then some felt in case I get caught out by the rain.

Married coming up 33 years. Keeps me out of the house.

I can't get to any of the wiring under the dormer without taking floors up in furnished bedrooms.

The dormer has been built on a raised timber ring beam (9x6?) on pad stones atop the old walls.

Looks like the consumer unit was once inside. There's a hole, you can just see the label on the back of the downstairs coving:

The grey wires are I'm guessing old Imperial. The white ones are newer, red / black pvc.

There's a cut, single core, cloth covered cable just out of sight by that hole through to the coving. Old cpc?

At least I now have a bit of a clean slate in terms of the working area. Literally cleaned and the woodwork treated.

Some wires not really long enough to reach the old, inside cu position so its staying where it is. In the morning though I might change my mind and start crimping on extensions!

x3 22mm pipes. Two are flow & return for the upstairs CH. The other is DHW to the bathroom.

Yesterday went too well doing the roof. Today I cut the trunking to go atop the new cu. Cut the cu and a matching slot in the trunking. Fettled and primed the cut edges. The paint is a perfect match. Went to set out the gland holes in the trunking. Still too closely spaced???

I'd cut it the same length as the cu....
too short by 100mm

so its all virtualy wired in twin and earth .either take them in from the end or just drill for 20 mm grommets in the top of the trunking dont over think or engineer it and get obsessed with fireproofing . its normaly the mains tails that burn out that some knob head hasnt tightened up enough and melt back a bit that causes it

Rough plan is intumescent grommets for the small ones. Big hole is for a future connection for the body dryer be it grommet of gland. Far right for the existing garage SWA.

Just waiting for the paint to dry.

Continuity between gland plate and original box...self tappers!
