I fail to see the attraction of welding under any car or van regardless of brand. Dont mind vw vans but just dont get the scene tax that goes with them.

The person I bought from could have cleaned it up and sold it for more to an enthusiast
I had to endure and endless stream of "why don't you make it into a camper" type comments when I used it on site
I wanted to reply "because I have a life" but decided not to say that in front of clients

Be no need for camper conversions soon, they will drop out of fashion and be loads forsale cheap.
One thing that confuses me with thread…vans full of rot fair enough it's getting on a bit, but the body sections from similar vans bought used are not rusty to repair it. In my motor welding days the same models all rotted in the same places.

Some vehicles are cared for more than others. This one was bodge central but it was £500. Worth the money and my labour is free but my labour was 115 hours alone. That’s a £6k bill in most garages. Certainly not worth it if paying for someone’s time.
I update stuff here as I know some people like to read build threads.
I did it for my son and enjoyed the experience which brushed up my talents no end, something that’s going to be needed when I start the ‘65 Volvo 1800S soon

Haha, yep still there but once my lads van is out of my hair she’s going back on her wheels and swapping places with the Volvo in my Dads garage. I need the 1800S at mine so I can strip it for blasting. The bay is pretty much done underneath. Very minor work really. From memory I think there’s a hole in the horseshoe section above the beam, a couple of Bowden tubes to weld and maybe heater ducts. The rest is body repairs.
There’s a CJ Autos Body tilter in there to come to mine.
