Did you check everything fitted properly before welding though? Its a mistake which is easy to make, and something I have done in the past.

Thanks for the advice Chris. I mocked everything up a couple of times. As you may be able to tell from the previous posts is that I do have a slight tendency to overthink things. I've got a mudguard to fit to a brace and I've taken a shock off and strapped the other side down to check how much movement there is, so I believe it's okay. I've also got a battery tray to go in after the mudguard, which I have to be careful to leave room for the air filter on the carb.

Best advice i was ever given regarding molesting motorcycles was, try to see the finished article and the steps to get there, not just the bit your working on now.

Right whats the next bit we're waiting

I've checked and double checked by building the bike up and looking at the lines and position of everything then marking it out. Unfortunately the tank took a hit when doing all of this.... so I have to redo the paint again. Lesson learnt - Leave the painting to the end!

Nothing exciting like a CB750 I'm afraid. Got a CG125 for £200 that looks like it was recovered from the Titanic, and have been given the green light from Mrs Scotto to throw some money at it in order to keep me occupied, and not coming up with any other hare-brained schemes.

I've messed about with Vespa and Lambrettas. I've seen a load of custom builds based on CG125's recently and thought it'd be a good place for a novice to start on. They're mad for customising them in Malaysia and Indonesia. I much prefer the look of '77 model. Much nicer tank than the '88 one I have, although I've got spare tank off an '82 CD200 that I may use. The '77 is 6V right? You could definitely bob it with a bit of modification to the rear subframe. I'm mixing it up with bits of scrambler and cafe racer. Will probably look very confusing at the end. Good fun though.
