None of it is viable , logically making such machines in the uk hasn’t been for fifty years
Had crisis the other day .
I’ve no time for my family but I’m working for free on the weekends keeping to my word and price on these wheels and contracting during the week to make up the financial shortfall and I’d bet half of the buyers wouldn’t urinate on me if I was on fire

It was only a thought , and not meant to offend ,,, Yep you do wonder sometimes what its all about ,,, but any mans only as good as his word . May be an old fashioned idea these days , but it makes you old fashioned ,, and that is no bad thing .

In two posts youve suggested to us you need a career change, which would be a real shame as your work is top notch, you really just need a larger discerning client base with deeper pockets!

Sometimes its nice to look at the things you make , or do , and know that they will still be around long long after you or the rest of us are not .

Occasionally I come across things I did forty years ago , and they are still just there and just working ,, and it makes me smile . We all have days that works a grind , but its probably worse when grinding is your work .

Doesnt matter what material you work in but most skilled craftsmen attract people with big ideas & shallow pockets.
The hard bit is tapping into the people with deep pockets!

After almost 47 years roofing i can confidently say i knock out fine projects which other people appreciate, great for them but i am becoming bored with the game and age is beginning to knock on my door. Hoping i can last another 3 years till my Mortgage is clear and then hand the keys over to my lads is my thinking. It must be wonderful not be thinking about work from 6am till you go to bed 7 days aweek, never had that luxury all my life

All done in memory to a old man (father) who didn’t have the time of day for me but worshipped my princess sister.
I’m the one who looked after him while he was dying btw even though I was disinherited. My conscience is clear and project lambco was a interesting if expensive project

This sentimental hang up that men like us have can be a noose around our necks and a burden we carry all our lives, you thinking more about machines than your own welfare, and myself thinking i must keep roofing to be like my father who worked till he was 71. It's all madness man Don't feel too bad about your old man cutting you out either, my old man has declared i am out of a £1.5 million holding and my 2 sisters will get it. I have never been a "yes" man unlike my 2 sisters who would sell their souls for a week in Benidorm and telling my father the beatings of his only son as a child never happened..

Pattern making has made me very aware of the price of wood going up but the quality down
I was paying £40 for birch ply now £120 plus vat and it’s not very good

@pressbrake1 have you ever looked into doing some merch? You’ve created a brand that people like (something you are way to dismissive of) and even if they can’t afford a wheel or vice why not do some t shirts or vernier pouches or something? I’d buy one.
It might be nice to have some lambco products that don’t involve 4000 hours of unpaid machining.

I don’t really feel like I’m in a position to make decisions on Clive’s marketing strategy, but if it was up to me I’d do a loyalty scheme with beards only available to repeat customers!
