Thought I’d posted the results. New bearing housing arrived, Took five minutes to put it on and fit the armature back onto the impact. Back working as you’d expect.
Note to self, no more lending out power tools

Moral of the story, DON'T lend tools. This has happened too many times to me, and everyone wants to borrow, but no one wants to pay when it goes wrong.

Fine if they want to borrow a club hammer, or an anvil, but nothing like this.

Honestly, I know some people who I reckon would still be able to accidentally destroy even them.
Mechanical sympathy isn't in some people's dictionary. Just watching them do anything remotely technical physically hurts!
