As stated before AWSOME work f/j....
I take it you grind all your roots back before capping..? but what intrigues me is with roots gaps so large, how do you get your tacks started...? is it one side then the other then wash across to join up, really am interested to know from a tech point of view...

nice to hear from you runnach, wheelchair, runnach, if the butt isn,t really crucial, a lot of what i do isn,t, then i go straight in on a startup, if xray then i prefer to grind the starts blue, on both occasions i take out the final tiein again till blue. just as you said wheelchair dip side, dip side rod in the middle and dip dip center, 5 and 6 g are slightly different in my case , but im tired after that last root:
one thing i must mention is if given the chance i prefer bridge tacks or bullets. im a rascal. f,j

knoba im glad you like my work and thanks, i think it was snowy who mentioned on a previous thread the 4 quarter approach, heres the idea, think of the bend welded onto the length first its only a matter of turning the second butt 180 and moving the stand , thats one bead at the time ie root filler, if required and cap. f/j

Some nice tig work there fj.
Tig is so much nicer. friend of mine occasialy borrows some of my kit to make petrol tanks for banger cars, normally mig's them. Fill them with water to check with leaks and there is always a leak or two. ok its only every out of 2mm plate, but he tig ed one the other day roughest Tig welding you seen in your life, i never seen a tig torch move so quick, and guess what not one leak.

wooz thats big john in the picture, pipefitter, you know how some guys make going to work enjoyable thats john. funny enough he suggested we go on the pull for xmas, john got the looks i got the brain, were having a couple of quiet ones instead
