Note these ones are only 1mm thick, was just the first link I came across. They would probably be fine for a small lathe.
You get flat belts for all types of machinery, even things like combine harvesters use them.

Think i have linked to them in the past but if you ever get stuck it's always worth a try at Essex Bearings and Transmission over in maldon.
Have sorted me out in the past with all sorts, good for sets of matched belts for heavier setups.

Ah that's good to no. Use to get a lot of stuff from Colchester bearings but they closed down.

Yes. That's what I was originally looking at. But will probably go down the modern flat belt route. I can order a couple then.

Tony's spares and consumables are on a similar price scale to Colchester. Couldn't believe the price he wanted for a V belt for the Fobco. I got mine for $10 and haven't noticed any of the supposed problems he lists occur with 'cheap' belts.

They will not work turned inside out. I think they are coated with something on the outside.

That's how most tend to run them though, ribs outward. You could eady enough scour the surface if they're coated.

@spencer 427 Here you go: length = 46" width = 1.5" thickness = 1/4" [iirc, I had to cut it in half length-ways to fit the RandA pulleys]

Almost at the finish line. It's all back together. Just got the motor bracket to adjust. Sort out a bit of wiring. Get a new switch panel. And fit the guards. Then fire up. I used a cam belt in the picture. It will do for now.

That belt will probably stil be on there in 50 years time. Did you clean and soak the wicks in oil?
