Primer complete. That can go sit on the stand for a few days drying time while I prep the place for scraping the ways

I'm mightily impressed so far with your restoration spencer it's coming along a treat and will be a wonderful lathe and friend once completed.

I love old machines that Whitworth spanners are used on; these machines generally were made to a very high standard lasting many life times unlike many modern machines computer controlled which cost a fortune if the electronics die. You'll be scared of scratching it once it's fully completed. Top class work; well done.

What paint are you using and what type of spray gun?

Thanks Colin. ..getting them scratched is part of it . My empire lathe is full of scratches and still haven't finished it yet...it's an enamel top coat...all hand painted. ..I don't use a gun.

Lathe rack almost sorted... I was going to do the way scraping shortly but as I need to scrape a few other parts I will clean and sort the remaining parts and do the scraping in one go.....

It could be be done on a rockford. But I have other bits to do so it's just as easy for me to do it here.

Got the main parts temporary back on the stand while I sort the rest..all stripped and in the gunk .

Totally forgot about the screws...had to quickly get those stripped and in the tank

Yes. It's a 47 percent mix of caustic. ...

A few more parts done. Cleaned. Repair...Primer...tops...rebuild....a few gears done today and the feed screw. Tailstock rebuilt.
