It will likely be a single low reading so best to charge that cell but they do need to be very close to satisfy the BMS. Discharging if they aren’t too low already would work but be harder.
If this is the fault I’d keep an eye on it, tbh it’s usually a temp fix and that cell will soon go out of spec again and there is always the risk it is going to fail.

The BMS on the copy Makita batteries are similar to the early genuine Makita ones in that they do not monitor every pair of cells, only the first, middle & last pair.

You can buy a better BMS that monitors every pair of cells & fit it to your battery pack, meaning that it balance charges all the cells.

You will need to be creative with a dremel & hot glue to get it to fit your old case. I also had to reuse the original LED charge level indicator.
