Loosely connected to EVs /lithium batteries: I replaced the battery in an old iPod this week; the old battery was well glued in, and when I used a watchmakers' screwdriver to prise it out, and in doing so, managed to puncture the battery. Whatever it was inside smells really pleasant. Is that same true of a car battery ?

Funnily enough I was looking at an article yesterday....I think a company called byd reckon their "blade" batteries are a lot safer. They do a nail test on them apparently ...

More likely the driver self combusted from the effort involved in both making the decision AND actually using the indicator.Did one of the BMW drivers use an indicator?
Maybe the switch was full of combustible dust or fluff from lack of use...

I’d suggest you don’t look for the fire in Liverpool multi story from 2017(so almost no ev involved) that had the same outcome then, or the one in cork in 2019…and quickly spread to some ev- s which made it far worse than a couple of diesel or petrol fires than can be put out fairly quick
