if it was any higher i wouldnt fancy holding the log, can u imagine the torque. it would just spin and u with it whereas if its splitting a 6inch log and its only quarter of the way in it would just turn slightly and wedge against the table and split the log and not take u with itlooks good. Is the cone going to be high enough?
ive built a scrap cable stripper that is verry powerfull and geared down to 80 rpm belt drive using twin pulleys when its overloaded it dont stop but the belts will slip ,Apart from stopping the engine how will you stop the cone turning if it get a stuck log?
Or worse traps your hand or grabs your clothes?

how do you work out the size of the belts needed??? want them a bit over sized so I can make some sort of leaver to push the belts in, to engage drive any ideas on both???
