Going through a 13 amp fuse

I took the fuse out and stuck an old nail in there

All my fuses have threads on them so they grip the brass tangs better

Wonder if that artic cable is 1.5 or 2.5mm?

You would have thought 2.5 and thats whats mine looks like but it's not marked on the cable but it is uk made cable. Borrowed from a friend ( not from toolstation) so i could see if it would do before i put in a dedicated 16a socket and mcb in the garage.

I want to fit a 16a socket in my garage too as it will also be better for my welder.

Slightly cheaper on amazon but I just bought the 13a plug and 16a socket for £5 from toolstation and used a scrap bit of wire I had.

Toolstation have all the 16a connections that are required and cheap as chips and the cod.

TLC direct have all the gear/socket/trunking/4mm cable/new breaker etc

Thought I would share my findings tonight.

I bought the 13amp to 16amp fly lead so I could hook my plasma up.

Here it is.

Clearly states cable size 1.5mm2.

Here is the power cord on the plasma cutter.

It’s the same size as the fly lead 1.5mm2.

So unless the manufacturer has provided a woefully inferior power cable for there own machine.

It should be more than capable of working from a 13 amp plug.

Have to say, although I’ve never used a plasma cutter before; I’m very impressed. Only tried it on 5mm but a hot knife nd butter comes to mind. Now I wonder why I’ve been using saws and grinders all these years. I was also surprised how quiet the compressor is and how clean the cut is.

I am now deliberately avoiding Lidl.

I have to save the cash to buy heating oil this month. My quote went up £180 over last weekend. To think I could have bought a plasma and lots of croissants with that!

Just a heads up - the lidl impact driver is due out soon. Whilst its not the most powerful, its £60 and I would not be without mine (I can't justify a more expensive one).

I'm tempted if they have an impact wrench, did see an impact wrench and grinder combo for £60 on ebay

I think the impact is good. Initially I was very disappointed with the grinder as it took two batteries for about 800mm of cut in 3mm galv. However, over the last couple of weeks I have been using it for grinding and wire brushing on small jobs and it has been great due to the convenience.

Mate bought one and we used it to cut up a project car. It did a lot of cutting and worked a treat.

If you already have the batteries you would be better buying one of the Makita clones on ebay for £20-£30. I have one & its really surprised me of its abilities!

Yes, all the Fakita stuff I have I can't fault so far. Some from eBay, some from Banggood.

Seem to remember Aldi have an online ordering system for tools like plasma cutters etc so Uk n Germany.
Might be worth a look. ??
Unfortunately no Aldi here only lidil
The wife has instruction to buys P/cutter if they ever come up for sale
So far never in 2 years
