E-mail the manufacturer, explain the situation, & see what their response is. You're covering your backside that way.

I have not managed to look at it since I put it back in the box after it's initial test. I hope to have another look in the next couple of days.

Hard to say.
In theory yes, because it runs off a 13A plug (so just under 3kw).
However, as its a inverter, there's the unknown of how much Voltage THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) the Plasma internals will induce and the effect on the generator alternator (& in turn how the Inverter will cope with any generator output variation as a result).
Really, the only way to be sure.... is to try it. (I think it'd be interesting to measure the generator voltage through a multimeter while running (or trying to run) the Plasma at different power/cutting levels to see if/how much it varies.
It could be that it's OK at lower power levels, but not so much at the higher end.

My inlaws managed to pick one up for me in Minehead Lidl yesterday.
On one of the fabrication pages on facebook a user emailed the guy selling them for £285, apparently he was quite upfront and said he picked up 15 from stores and if they don't sell he will return them for a full refund.

Plastic push fits are poor old things, might be worth investing in a brass one.
Did you note the pipe size whilst you were in there? thinking I might get a brass one.

I didn't measure them but they looked like 10mm - though it would be worth checking for yourself. It was quite easy to take the cover off. Front plastic trim piece, 6 screws - each side, 7 screws each - top, 2 screws. Take the front trim off first, then slide the top forward and off.
I didn't look at anything else as I know there are parts in there that hold a charge.
One thing I will say is the length of pipe in there isn't generous!
