The lead screw and nut are in excellent condition he says and wants £50 for it the top slide is in good condition just needs painting and he wants £50 for it and the head stock has adjustment left in the bearings and he wants £40 for it and he will throw in the finger

From the guy on FB? I would be prepared to pay that sort of price for the above assuming that his idea of in good condition is the same as mine, can not say much more than that.

Yep not the same guy the lathe came from he's doing me the lot for 120

I've been looking on Fb the guy I got the lath of had commented on a for sale ad by the guy who I'm getting the parts of 3 weeks before I bought it asking if he had some parts for the lathe he was picking up that weekend which was 3 weeks before I bought it but he told me he'd had it for years

Re ways. Can get bellows but I just clean up as I go. Have felt wipers on my saddle which help.

The finish is bang on I've got some positive rake inserts for Ali which is what I'm using but I can get similar results with some en8 bar but with the only other inserts I've got it likes a slightly deeper cut

I made an ally tray that fixes to the carriage and moves with it, it catches the chips and I just brush them off.
There's room under the chuck so it doesn't hit the headstock before the tool hits the jaws...

It's sometimes possible to turn a ball using your compound, depending on what type you have.
