Don't forget spare inserts. They come with one on each tool.Yep that's the ones
Why would they do that
I see I didn't think that it would have mattered but I'll get it sortedI'm only guessing here Jlg (as you seem to be averse to posting decent photos) but if it's like mine the jaws are hardened and as brittle as the original grub screws.
If you tighten the chuck and force the tapered grub screw in to the chuck jaw, it will probably snap one of the legs off where the grub screw seats.
If that happens the chuck will probably be scrap.
See below where the grub screw I modified fits the jaw.
And the next photo of how I held it in the 4 jaw chuck to machine the slot.
It was the first proper machining I ever did on the Boxford (or any) lathe.

Ordered two packsDon't forget spare inserts. They come with one on each tool.
Would I be able to just weld the angled bit up and re cut it without any problems
Nope, you won't have any threads left where you weld it. Need to buy four new set screws and go again.
dont be mean.Did you turn the piece on the top of the tool post. Is this a "record " finish, or was a bread knife used!
Wasnt mean, more an observation, that maybe needs some guidanceLol
dont be mean.
That's the finish I got the first time I ran my ML1
Complete strip down and some fettling saw a massive improvement.

It was done with the tools way below centre while I was doing the Bit you see it sitting on the finish is now a lot better but still not perfect what would you recommendIndeed.
I'd be taking the apron and cross slide off for a butchers and checking the spindle for movement.
