Lathe Identiication

I've been having a look around the forum and I hope I'm posting in the right
section (apologies if not, so please move if necessary)
I have purchased this lathe from my boss, he has no idea of manufacturer as
the I.D. plate has been removed, I've had a look around at a few sites and
even asked a mate of mine who works CNC machines (and trained on old
Colchesters and the like back in the day) but no luck. Can anyone help ??

I'll check tomorrow when I'm at work, but from memory it's just settings and
ratios, I did check a few weeks ago for makers name and didn't find any.
I'll take my reading glasses next time

Sorry, I can't contact this chap via PM , seems I do not have the necessary permissions. Maybe it's because this is my first posting, who knows how this
forum has been set up.
Could you possibly pass this thread link on please ??

It would be interesting to know what make this is, then I can work out what
spares are available (if any) and what might be picked up from other
more common machines ...

My first impression said Drummond, guess the colour persuaded me as I had a twin bed Drummond from about the 1912 era, same sort of stands, same Hamerite paint, but in fairness lots of lathes from that era had the stands,guessing early 1900s , possibly treadle driven in an early life. You could spend hours looking on the Lathes Bible encyclopaedia, drop Tony a pic he probably tell you straight away

Spares -- your optimistic, but once identified there may be a dedicated forum for that manufacturer.

Thanks for that, he's a picture of the motor, uni-strut mounted to the back.
Yes, it's been hammerited by my boss when he fixed it up.
Spares, well it helps to be optimistic at times - we'll see, there are those
about that break lathes, something ight come up and at £250 it's good
enough for what I have planned, and of course to learn on

Rossia Lathe
An entirely conventional lathe from the period 1895 to 1910, the 125 mm centre height Rossia shown below is the only one known. Backgeared and screwcutting, with power cross feed and a flat-topped bed, the lathe could have been manufactured in almost any European country - and the tumble reverse lever is very like those on German lathes of the period. The "balanced" handwheels (if original) and neat thrust bearing arrangement on the end of the hollow spindle would tend to put the lathe later into the suggested period, rather than earlier.

looks just like a Holbrook,i had one in the '90's[1990's that is.

I have no idea about lathes, so not sure which part you are refering to.
I'll have to have a google around and learn a bit more terminology I reckon

The apron/saddle is the large moving part that moves when you turn the large handwheel. On the front left (just above the brass plate in the pics) is a large lever poking out the side. This lever engages the threaded rod (leadscrew) to make the saddle move automatically. Having it on the left is unusual and behind the apron even more so. You don't want to be reaching around down there trying to knock off the feed with hot metal chips raining all over your hands.
