the blue one is a mate of mine, lives locally.
in august in the top of scotland we stopped for lunch, who should pull up having spotted the landrovers? yup Johnny.

The choice seems to be the degree of overhang.

This one has (IMHO) the wrong angle -

This one has less overhang than the first one but the angle is right (mirrors the wheel arch) -

I think that the latter looks better from the outside, but gives less room on the inside. When i do mine, i think i will double the flat section behind the rear wheel (the first photo has more than double, whilst the blue one above has no extra - the angle just comes up from the original back)

I dont think the rear extension is as taxing as making the side door.

Yes that's the plan the side door isn't a bit look forward to but have done similar sealing doors in the past.

Ill be interested to see what you come up with for the side door.

The sides are not steel at all - they are strenghtened by folded alloy. Im guessing that, if the inside skin is stripped (and the insulation) you would be able to see where the existing structure is, and make up a steel frame to bolt up to the alloy skeleton. Or at least that's what ill do, unless you come up with a better idea in the meen time!

Was pretty much thinking building in a casing with the minimum amount of interfering with existing.
It's all things that can make the job grow in cost and time that bothers me

Got one of these Comming in for some fabrication work to convert to a camper.

Needs a new rear crossmember at same time, guys been told it's a body off job by a so called expert. Is this "expert" talking nonsense? Looks to me like it's a cut the floor out job (which isn't a big issue bearing in mind other work that I am going to be doing to it)

Anyone done one? Done loads of series but never a fc.

My understanding is that the original Fwd control Landrover series 2A, 2B ( not 101) has a seperate chassis / superstructure on top of the original chasssis to give clearance for the 9.00 tyres, so anythings possible.

I think i read somewhere that they had troubles with the wheel trims cracking or the likes and were running tires at 120psi to get rid of the sidewall flex when filming ,,, just a distant memory.
