It seems that's another quandry for people wanting dual purpose vehicles, you're stuck between building/restoring something basic (affordable, cheap to maintain, reliable) or spending a fortune.Sadly a Discovery, Rangie or Defender seem to be all that ticks the box except the new Landcruiser!
I hadn't intended the Vivaro to be a 'forever' vehicle when I bought it new in 2014, but given the price of anything to replace it as a van or dual purpose I can't see it getting replaced before I stop driving or drop off my perch (probably due to a massive clutcher induced by the cost of filling the tank).
