Got some screwdrivers too. Look at the receipt. I still can't believe it lol.
I wouldn't have thought so. I like the halfords stuff and have used the ratchet spanners for years but snap on is another rung up the quality ladder(and price range)Have I heard somewhere that the Halfords sets "lifetime guarentee one's" are basically made by Snap On, or under licence by them?
i have been looking at halfords professional tools closely for some time, my conclusion is that most of them are made in taiwan by the apex group, they supply gear wrench, signet, and sata, among others, it is fairly good quality..,but snap on,or facom ,or koken, are in a higher quality bracket(and priced accordingly!)...Have I heard somewhere that the Halfords sets "lifetime guarentee one's" are basically made by Snap On, or under licence by them?
Bacho was bought out by snap on in 1999
same here had my current set since 1997 took some abuse and still in great conditionDraper Expert for me, don't like Halfords as i prefer the service and value of local motor factors. If i could justify or afford snap on that would be my choice. My draper sets have had 15 years of use and still perform like new.
You must have asked an arsey dealer most should be fine with it. all he would do is replace the knackered parts and send them off to snap on then he gets a refund, I would have rang snap on HQ and complainedif your buying second hand snap-off then best buy from a dealer, i purchased my ratchets new from the snapon dealer when i worked over the west coast for a bit i then moved back to fife, the rachet pawl finaly gave out on my 3/8 drive so i took it to the local dealer ( visits 2 local garages on the 1st thursday of the month) he looked at it and said no, i argued it was a lifetime gaurentee etc but he point blank refused to repair it because i didnt buy it from him. that was when i started buying halfords pro kit, dose the job just as well and no hassle if it needs replaced.
I've got the halfords pro stuff, never got a kit as I bought tools individually. Now I have sockets and spanners from around 4mm all the way up to 36mm
Had them for about 10 years and still going trouble free. At the time they were best value for money in that quality range

I think I read somewhere the lifetime guarantee now covers the ratchets as well? I haven't had the socket set but I have had the ratchet spanners for about 10 years and they have been great, and heavily used as well.
draper were originaly total crap but got took over and are in with knipex and there tools are verry good quality nowsame here had my current set since 1997 took some abuse and still in great condition
I also had a Stanley socket set years ago, it got nicked but that was very good and took loads of abusedraper were originaly total crap but got took over and are in with knipex and there tools are verry good quality now![]()
