Hose is split where it goes into the gun. Can I cut it back and get a new fitting or is it a new hose? Hose is about 10m and the rest is OK so would be a shame to waste it.
@Turbo I haven't replaced the unloader yet, just the valves and seals. Would this be the next logical step - they seem to be about £70 so was holding off on that I have seen a youtube link where someone has blanked of the bottom of the ports in the head and then fitted an external unloader - I guess that is what you are thinking?
Thanks for the link @Turbo and the message @carbon as suggested, if I get it all working OK I will invest in a new hose, not that expensive in the overall run of things given what I paid for the machine.
In the meantime I have borrowed a hose from the "other machine" which it turns out had a Karcher hot water hose on it which is in good nick so will do for the moment.
(yes, I have another one - i bought two for spares at the same time thinking I might be able to swap parts or at least get 1 working )
So now I have the pump working onto the next item - making fire . The diesel pump works ok and I have had the burner off and the nozzle is misting nicely. The twin plugs arc to each other but need to be pretty close to do so. is there a standard gap and if the arc is weak would that point to needing new spark plugs or ignition module?
Also, and this might be one for a separate thread for the sparkys. The motor is temperamental on starting. Initially I thought it was the knackered switch but that may be a symptom not the cause. When you switch on the contactor buzzes and the motor will start to turn but stop again. Sometimes it fires into life and you can make it start by giving it a shove by hand.
I have pulled the motor to check the shaft/pump is moving freely and that all seems OK./ It is a thumping great 2.2kW 3 phase running off 240v with a couple of caps (or 1 cap and a filter?)

I am wondering if one of the caps has gone and that might be causing the starting issues?
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
