Flex plates are bizarre, you look at a flywheel and a clutch and then look at a flex plate even on something big like a Range Rover and they still look really flimsy
Truck ones are also weedy.

First truck autobox I did i couldn't believe itTruck ones are also weedy.
You could convert the old car to electric....saving 80% of the car from the landfill.
I still have the tool that allows you to take the camshaft out of those without taking the head off if anyone wants it. Free of course but it's a bit heavy for posting. 3 kgs perhaps?... the daily is a 2003 Astra G 1.6 8 valve
Ooh, DCOEs, Love 'em - except when you need to set the jetting up...
That would be handy, Im more than happy to pay for carriage/packing, try the parcelforce web site that gives a few choices for delivery and you can have it collected or drop off to a post officeI still have the tool that allows you to take the camshaft out of those without taking the head off if anyone wants it. Most of us don't have it in the first place. What have you been doing with all that money your saving up, instead of making new car payments ?
Looks good to me, PM incomingJust when I thought I must have given it away I found it. The lid of the box is pretty a bit rusty but the rest and what's inside looks good. The bad news is my guess of 3kg was some way off. It's 6.4 kg! The cheapest I could get on Parcel Force was £8.40. If this is ok PM me an address and I will send it on.

You might do better getting a courier firm to collect it from me, but either way, no problem.
A mate had a silver ex-police Rover SD1 3.5L, which he bought for £200, & he ran it for about 7-years.
People used to say to him all the time "why run such as expensive to run car - what mpg does that do?"
His reply was "I have no idea what the mpg is, & I don't care either. I usemy van for work all week, & this for anything else - & it's cheap motoring".
They just didn't get it.
Loads of people went out and spent thousands buying a low road tax car when it was introduced. It didn't dawn on them that they were losing way more in depreciation every month alone (never mind the Finance) for £30 tax, than if they'd stuck to their £240 tax car.
Economics for the hard-of-thinking![]()
And even then, better the devil you know. So many people say to me its not "worth" it, but then again, if you spend a couple of hundred quid to get another year out of it (barring accidents) its still worth doing IMOI reckon the longer you keep any car the cheaper it gets, until it gets uneconomic to repair, which if you can diy is a long time ahead.
This is why I've got a nearly 23yo LDV Convoy (with more plates in it than a Banquet Dinner Service), a nearly 21yo Toyota Yaris, and a 1995 Nissan Terrano II (these last 2 are off the road, but I'd like to see if I can get one or both MoT'd - both have done less than 80k miles, & I need another vehicle running other than the Missus 2011 Kia Rio).I reckon the longer you keep any car the cheaper it gets, until it gets uneconomic to repair, which if you can diy is a long time ahead.
But , Darling , how DO you manage to keep your head up when mixing with all your Society acquaintances when arriving at ' events'?And even then, better the devil you know. Strange as it may seem there a few people in the world who think that a full ashtray , or the equivalent, is an indication that the car is no longer fit for purpose. This is why I've got a nearly 23yo LDV Convoy (with more plates in it than a Banquet Dinner Service), a nearly 21yo Toyota Yaris, and a 1995 Nissan Terrano II (these last 2 are off the road, but I'd like to see if I can get one or both MoT'd - both have done less than 80k miles, & I need another vehicle running other than the Missus 2011 Kia Rio).
If I have to spend a few hundred I reckon it's worth it compared to much more £ on a trinket-laden electronic fuse-festival-in-waiting with a DMF, DPF, etc etc.
To me a car is a way to cart you & what you need to move from A to B without getting wet.Strange as it may seem there a few people in the world who think that a full ashtray , or the equivalent, is an indication that the car is no longer fit for purpose.
Love it......nearly 23yo LDV Convoy (with more plates in it than a Banquet Dinner Service)
I've known a few genuinely wealthy individuals who drive basically just above bangers. Not that they're tight, they just don't like to show it off.But , Darling , how DO you manage to keep your head up when mixing with all your Society acquaintances when arriving at ' events'?
