How would you repair this?

Just great mate..John do you know the rough settings for tig welding 2 potatoes together...cant seem to find any info on the Lincoln welders site thats applicable to my machine, btw its only a DC machine i have so hoping i dont need AC for English spuds

You need to friction weld potatoes and other tubers..
You could try to pulse them, but that will be taking the pea.

Yea ive heard this before mate..thought ide ask as my lathe wont go fast enough to build the friction heat up..oh well!!

Act your age young man, just lob the back brake in the bench drawer until the front brake falls off. Then think about fixing the brakes.

The whole bike has been in bits in a crate in the back of the shed for the better part of a year waiting to get fixed but I finally tidied the shed so now it's getting done. I tidied it by making a rack for all our bikes* that doubles up as a workbench;

*All but my broken trials bike.

Oh, and I have been known to smoke a pipe.

The tap is tapered but the holes are deeper than I initially thought so it wasn't a problem. I helicoiled all 4 holes as per Colnerov's suggestion, it's all back together and it works perfectly, thanks for the help.

You don't get an engine with it for under £350. Fun anyway, and if you're good (Which I'm very much not) you can do this:

Not just me then. I turned off when it became a cooking channel. When it became a comedy veg channel I stopped watching entirely.

the cooking and veg machining are just a bit of fun, you don't have to watch them. i enjoy johns machining videos and have learned a heck of a lot from them. its a bit like saying im not going to shop in asda because they sell a brand of buiscut i dont like. horses for coarses i suppose.

Now I know of someone who has.

No problem. I was very impressed with them, it took about half an hour to do all 4, including taking the wheel and brake off, finding my drill, finding a tap handle putting the wheel back on and setting the brake again. Probably only takes about 2 minutes per hole. It's a very close tolerance thread too, with the bolt threaded in but not tight there's no wiggle whatsoever.

Oh, and if anyone gets one of these kits, there's a little collar on the insert tool that can be adjusted with an allen key. It tells you to put the collar in the right position but it doesn't tell you said position or the purpose of it. It goes right near the tip such that if you press down on the tool when using it the collar presses on the top of the coil rather than pulls it down from the bottom. If you don't do this it's easy to skip a thread on the part making the new repaired thread useless, and you can't wind them back out. Lucky I did a practice one first.

Yes, he's great, very watchable, highly skilled and I have learned a lot too. He was in my top ten but when there is such fierce competition for attention, who has the time to sift through a dozen videos when more half of them have become irrelevant? For what it's worth, I even switch off Abob79 when he goes off on some barbecue nonsense...

It doesn't need one, you'd catch your feet on it when you cock up and jump off. It's also added weight (The whole thing weighs about 7kg!) and would only get used on longer journeys, which you can't do because the gear ratio is stupidly slow, something like 18:13.
