if it does nothing exciting after a few goes you could try bringing it out of the oven and dunking it in a bucket of water to exaggerate the differential cooling / contraction effect , just another thought .

Careful with ultrasonics - you can hammer holes into aluminium quite well with the wrong transducers, running the wrong frequency.Great news, well played. I would hesitate to suggest dunking aluminium into acid! Same goes for any precision machined part to be honest. Should be a last resort if at all needed. Just a good clean would be my recommendation.
While I have been a champion for both citric and electrolysis for some time now, there is a time and a place for those somewhat drastic measures. My next obsession will be a large ultrasonic tank project.
