How often do water meters go wrong?

6ltrs ain't a drip and it's way more for what ever reason when in normal use, rule in or out meters and go from there.

The question here is, if i turn off just before the second meter which consistently reads 200 litres less than the main meter, why do I only lose 6 litres in 6-12 hours according to the reading on the main meter? If I am truly losing 200 litres between the meters, that should equate to a loss of 50-100 litres in 6-12 hours???

It does matter. The meters don't tally - they are out by 200 litres in any 24 hour period. When blocked off, the same section of pipe that the meters are comparing loses 6 litres in 6 hours. 6 litres in 12 hours. It makes no sense. If that section loses 200 litres on 24 hours (according to the meters) it should lose 50 litres in 6 hours and 100 litres in 12 hours. Again. This is making no sense.

If there is air in the pipe would it not be worked out at some point?

One of the meters isn't correctly calibrated.

There is no point trying to work out what the loss is unless you know both meters are correct because until then you don't know what the disparity between the two is.

If both meters are correct then you are loosing a lot of water.

One problem at a time.
