a spare ecu is usless by itself you need the key, imobiliser ecu and ignition barrel all from the same vechileThanks, I will find code, the story was the guy who owned it stated getting the EML come on, it would sound terrible, noise wise from engine, and limp at 10/15mph, so he put it in garage, they changed vacuum piece, the regulator that is on the end of pump, checked crank sensor clean and still no joy, he saw 14 reg on forecourt and took that, garage gave up and I bought it.
probably more unsaid about it that I dont know, it came with a "spare" ecu and the chip kit that was original to it which has been removed due to trying to find culprit causing fault.
I had it recovered, electricaly I can hear egr working when switching of , pump makes clicking noises...unsure about that as on my iveco its a definate whir when pump runs?
not insured as I want to fix it first, but started ok,bit of smoke initially, grey, run up to temp and drove up and down a track, no sign of trouble apart from slight whish whish from underneath sounds like rear brake shoe rub or centre prop bearing.
oh and the garage guy reckoned he had the injectors out and cleaned the tips....hmm.
will get to do a leak of when I get the chance.
thanks for the interest and advice appreciated .
realise that from my iveco exploits, but was pointing it out as obviously someone got it for a reason, beyond me as without imobaliser ecu its just a door wedge
right I will have a bit to eat then see if I can sus these pipes out.
If this is denso (probably is with scv) then it will need a pump learn/pilot learn after replacement - you'll need something half decent to do this procedure with, modis or delphi
the mechanic said the fault code was excessive fuel leak, but they couldnt find it.id read the code first
Ok, so after realising what mitsi call a scv I know as a fuel regulator from ivecos, the differance it seems is the iveco have a micro screen in them which gets blocked and you get the classic injector light limp mode symptoms...so took it of pulled it apart, clean as a whistle, thats not to say the solanoid part isnt breaking down .
took the vacuum pipes off, clean as but quite a loose fit on one end, checked the diesel filter for leaks and nothing dripping, that they have replaced.
now the mech said they had replaced the scv ,but looking at the fine rub marks(super light) I have my doubts about that.
anyways fired it up, smoky on start and exhaust does smell, but runs smooth, let it get hot and no sign of it playing up.
so yes I do need a obd reader, was hoping one of you guys would say yes get a xyz they work fine..as I know nout about the various types available.
Should the butterfly in the throttle valve assembly flick shut on start up? looking down with pipe of it certainly looks coaked up. So next job I geuss will be strip down and clean manifold and egr thats all weather/time dependant.
