Yes, my neighbour says oil price is well bearable. I am 64 and as each year passes I become less tolerant of the cold. I don't mind hauling wood in each night or stacking it and sometimes if it's free, sawing it but I would sometimes like to come home to a warm house when I have been out all day.

I never found out, perhaps coke, the nuggets or briquets or whatever were quite well formed and smooth save for the occasional broken bit or other scars. Fierce hot though.
36 degrees for a lot of the summer, -3 for a lot of the winter
. Winter 2018 we spent the winter in India, heating bill zero. Those pensioners who used to spend 4 months in Benidorm or Torramawotsit had the right idea, they can only do 3 months now but it is probably still worth it if they have a heat leaky place back home.

Last mine was shut a couple of years ago. I still have a few bags. Apparently most here, if at all available, comes from Russia now and is poor quality in its raw format.

you can even heat a heat store on it as well if you want
the only issue you have to watch out for is the wood stoves pump if that fails you can have hot steam so needs a back up

I did such, its a bit more complex that that article makes out. Normally a boiler stove is a vented system, so if your pump fails, power cut etc, to prevent building pressure as the fire continues to burn. Modern central heating systems are closed systems, and you cannot link a live fire source into a closed system or you potentially add too much heat, it boils, builds pressure and then you get over pressure/ steam possibly things busting.you do know that you can have both a wood stove and a central heating system on the same pipes

Then there are the controls. Stoves with back boilers tend to have dampers, that close off heat to the-water side if it gets too hot. Usually this is at a lower temperature than your heat store is operated at.
I removed my boiler stove, whats the point in a fire/log burner for your house that you cant use in a power cut. Living very rurally we get a few power cuts, though we have a decent generator, an independent heat source with no power requirements simplifies things. The boiler stove was a nice thing ( Stanley Lismore) but an expensive mistake. Its now fitted in an old cottage by someone else trying to link the two systems to save on oil, his heating is ancient and an open vented system. But it wouldn't surprise me to find non of it is shall we say “compliant”.
I came to the same conclusion with our wood stove. The Rayburn is linked to the CH but if we have a power cut all we have to do.is have a bath to cool the thermal store. It will take a few hours if the rayburn is low to get back to temp. If the thermal store.gets too hot it will flow (boil I guess) into the header tank and then overflow. I'm looking at getting a generator so I can run the CH pumps in a power cut. Wont need to be particulalry powerful but quiet would be good!

Quiet Id not worry too much. Ours is a cheapy diesel, noisy, but in old stone house with double glazing, generator 15 yards away in the shed, you dont notice it.

certain new stoves have a direct to water mains pressure release system that will flush the heat out of the system ( i suspect certain parts will be mandatory yearly fit )
so the new system can be used
however im one of these that prefers the old stoves to central heating system that uses gravity and thermal flow of a system yes its old but it does work and with no electric
handy for long runs of 4hrs of constant heat
combined with a second system of central heating or heat store you can have the best of both worlds just depends on where its installed as it will take room up
just a note underfloor heating and bathroom underflow and wall tile heating can also create a heat store whilst also making that bathroom loverly and warm
tech has changed enough so new systems can be combined with old systems

Im fully aware of how thermal stores and underfloor heating work. All of my properties have underfloor heating in a concrete slab. We prefer more than just the bathrooms warm.
