Still got to finish; fixing the brakes on my trials bike, fixing the forks on my jump bike, making a gas bottle forge, making a TIG foot pedal, fixing a Blake water pump with my dad, fixing some old milking machine pumps with my dad (He's got 3 now), making a base for my dad's Argosy pump.

I'm sure there's more that have slipped my memory.

My house is now finished, finally sealed half the shed floor the other day, tidied it up too so now have some space, but it wont last. My little triumph lies awaiting finishing, I have a bigger triumph too that needs sorting, log splitter that needs modifying, and some barns that need converting. Oh and another animal shed to build where I put a base in last year. A log burner to fit in the shed. And i sold my blown harley project because it just annoyed me everytime I looked at it.

Oh an now the house is done its getting round to needing decorating as the plaster has now all dried out! And 1 or 200 potholes in the drive that need sorting, some field drains that need re digging too!

so lets start off the things that need to be finished

roof on shed but im making the next door wait for this one have 2 years left to pick what i want for the roof cover

myford ml7 that got put on hold while roof was being sorted and it still needs doing i just got the t nuts for this tonight with other stuff as well

ive pulled the pillar drill out and im sorting this out been stored for 4 years it needed a motor and a new 4 step pulley and new belt for it



ive got a house to sort and the garden as well and my extra stuff that im building for something else

Fixed, broke, and fixed again the brakes on my trials bike, sold the jump bike, broke and sold the tig welder before I finished the pedal
fixed and sold the Blake, sold two of the milking pumps as not working and turned the other one into a rust removal elecrode, and still haven't made the pump base.

December 22nd last year on the 3rd anniversary of my brother's death I was repositioning some bike parts in the garden that belonged to him and realised I've been moving them from pillar to post for 40 years! is that a long term project?

Half finished '78 Opel Manta with a 5ltr TVR engine and box in been on the go at least 8yrs, my Speed Triple has needed a starter clutch about 5yrs, my Fathers Nimbus hasn't turned a wheel in anger since 1982 and his Wooller engine isn't going anywhere, there's a Stuart turner gas engine in the loft, a couple of R/C aircraft not run since the early 70's, the central heating pipes have needed lagging since I booted it up 15 years ago, there's a transport museum of 5 cars collated over the past 5 years in the drive and a TV sat on the living room floor that's been in bits since before Christmas.

I need a box of round to it's.

The TV is up in the loft. I have made an effort to shift some of the transport museum, waiting on one to be moved by it's owner. That's about it.

It's obviously genetic tho, my mum (75) is still trying to finish a rug she started when she 12!

Studley cabinet - two "modules" done. Case being glued up tomorrow. Now in Fusion360

This thread definitely qualifies as an unfinished project, it was started 2 1/2 years ago and it's still not done

My list includes... rebuild front forks on one motorbike, re-engine the other motorbike, get my pickup back on the road, restore my Tr7 & convert to FI, finish converting a trailer to overrun brakes, a lathe, a trolley jack, slip rolls...

and then there's the not even started list... log splitter, hydraulic press/brakepress, chop & split into logs wood I got years ago...

and the never likely to ever get done list... tidy the garage.

I did finish the last house after 10 years, about 3 weeks before we sold it.

Cars
Triumph Stag (1) - has had the off side sill removed and now needs replacing (panel bought) as well as the floor panel and cross members. Other side still to be started but similar problems;
Triumph Stag (2) - clutch seized on the flywheel and master bark cylinder shot. Carbs overflow and temperature and fuel gauges don't work. Gearbox linkage will jam locking gearbox up!
Mazda MX5 - needs new springs and welding in both corners
Rover P4 110 - basket case (my retirement project!)
Sort out the exterior rust on the Sprinter before t gets too serious.

Trains (7.25")
Junin - a narrow gauge 2-6-2 diesel locomotive built by Hudswell Clarke and sent to Chile. Front and rear pony trucks and all transmission to complete.
De Winton a vertical boilered locomotive - works on air but needs a lot of tidying
Hunslet Quarry Locomotive - may be on the track this year.

Petrol Engines
Three Stuart engines 2 x P5 and 1 x P55 a couple of army generators and another couple of stationary engines

House (1890 Victorian Terrace)
Cupboard door above the units in the kitchen. Redo the ceiling
Repair the hall ceiling where a large chunk of lath and plaster fell off after a bath leak.
Finish the bathroom.

Engineering
Start my CNC plasma table (I have most of the bits)
Programme the PLC (bought through the forum) to drive the railway signals in the front garden. The ones in the rear are driven by a Pi and relay interface.


There's probably more, but that's enough for now!

Anybody fancy any of my stationary engine projects?

I have a GPZ900R. IT came from the bay, spares or repair,I got it as 2nd highest bidder (reckon the winner saw it in the flesh and walked..) I rode it for a year or so but it grew an intermittant fault. I scrounged a bike that had been a donor for a mate and swapped all sorts to try and fix it, swapped the coils and switches for zzr11 stuff, put a ZX10 engine in it, cleaned stuff swapped stuff, never found the fault. It sat i the shed for a coupe of years, then a mate wanted a 'cheap projet' so I gave it to him. It sat out side his house with a nice triumph chained to it for 18 months, then he gave it back. Thats not a good sign. Its back in the shed now, and at some point when I'm less skint I'll sort it but gods know when that will be. I've also got a Fazer in need of carb rubbers, a shed thats half re roofed, another thats in need of a decent floor, all the sheds need re wiring, I have a ring roller half made a27" cylinder mower and a honda engine to go on it when I can get the pulley of the old Villiers, theres a Ingersoll Rand compressor that isn't yet an unfinished project as I actually working on it now, theres 40 foot of dry stone wall that Dad decided should have a compost heap on top of it that I am now sorting into seperate stone and compost heaps, the forge needs some work (show me one that doesn't..) and the alley beside it needs a roof now I've put a door on the end of it. I have a part built 1.2 metre death star fire pit, but I cant finish that till I sort the ring roller out, and a huge AT-AT barbecue that will be easier to do once the workshop has a floor and a folder in it. Ive got 4 Lister Ds waiting for trolleys, also a Junior, a 1919 Lion open crank,a wolesey, a douglas generator set and I need to finish a gate with a rudge on it for my sister. Need to fix the plasma cutter too...

It has moved on a bit (painfully slowly) since this was taken, but this is what happens with a lot of my restorations - I need them for a job and then they sit half restored! I might take it apart again some day and finish the job. Maybe.

Can times that by more than 10. Mrs wanted me to promise I wouldn't start a job and not finish when moved in to this house Nov 1988. My answer is im not the only one in this house with a pair of hands.
Probably name more jobs ive finished, like a builder can do anyone elses apart from my own stuff.

Since last post, finished cnc mill conversion, though I have started to build a 5 axis table for it thats sitting half done so not sure it still counts but can use it as 3 axis right now. Also finished the floor in the bike workshop, and that wasnt even on my list.
