Punch bag stand, proper welding bench, bigger shed, turf the garden (although I did complete this, because of the situation of the garden it gets no light and has all died away), modifying air rifle, project bike that should have a turbo on it by now but hasn't even been looked at, megane exhasut repair (have the bits but not the time), boxing in the stairs at my fathers house, putting another 32A supply in the shed, new light in the bathroom...the list is endless

it gets worse we tried some superglue which didn't work so now I only have a tuit I'll never finshish anything againjulianthegypsy

What happened, did it go out of round?
in 2010,work got me a Airfix triumph herald model kit for my 40th birthday, its my 45th birthday in a couple of weeks and 3 years ago I said I wanted to be able to drive the full sized for my 50th birthday.......
....since this is as far as the Airfix kit has got, the full sized car is looking more like a retirement project, as it hasnt been driven since 1997.

Dont rely on any extra free time when you retire..I have had less spare time since i retired. I used to think its was an old wives tale but its so damn true you will never work out why.......since this is as far as the Airfix kit has got, the full sized car is looking more like a retirement project, as it hasnt been driven since 1997.

Now you have reminded me of my V1000 Britten metal model in the loft. I wanted to take such great care, and ended up taking great time instead. I think the body is together. Best go and look, I suppose.
I am not deluding myself that I will ever get one to ride though.

my grandfather used to tell me he was coming out of retirement so he had more time to do things he wanted to do on his days off, as after retirement everyone knew he was free and able to do favours for them mending various things like lawn mowers and wheelchairs etc. if he wasn't too worried about the tax he probably could have made a decent business out of it in all honesty
The problem is that you have to run a certain amount of projects in parallel, so that you dont go mad while your waiting months for some rare servo driver to turn up from the back of beyond or something, the happy balance is when you get blocked on one to jump on the next. I don't like it when something sits there undone that I have the things in hand to progress on and that tends to force my hand.
The unhappy balance is when all the bits turn up the same time and you havent got time to do them, then there is a imbalance in the force of the shed, as if 10,000 tiny chips of swarf cry out at the same time, and it feels uncomfortable until that has been addressed.
I *really* am taking myself in hand to get the balance back by finishing stuff thats sat round, but what I have really become better at as the years pass is telling my wife "not this week"...

That sound familiar..lol one of my problems is lack of cash to finish a project and then while doing another find \i need a new part etc etc and it goes on.....lol Oh and the wife wants to go away for a couple of months ;(

I knock up a few here and there, make great little Christmas gifts. I do mine with wooden bases.... heres a finished one....
As for unfinished projects, I have had a part made wheelie bin screen in the garage for about 3 years now. Bit like a 'wrought iron' gate but higher, to grow plants round.
Only needs welding up. Take about 15 mins to finish probably

i like the fact that you can see where you have cleaned back the metal for welding, then not covered it after welding and let it rust, i do exactly the same thing most of the time if its not a customer job

I have a good few half finished projects, garage roof, done 3/4 just need to finish it only a year so far. South bend lathe in bits on my bench for 7 months! New wood burner for the workshop that's been in the making for 3 years now. Cable jacks for big drums about 4 years found the bits for them today under my bench! Always something getting in the way usually work!
