I put a cheeky bid on a way grinder , just for sport as it was less than scrap and I’m still ruined from Xmas , I really didn’t think I’d win !In Europe these make big money and the vendor wanted five figures before his health declined to a point that a auction agent was called in

Grinding can be affordable but the turcite scraping and alignment can burn hours

Machine shop I worked in back in the 80's had a brand new Colchester lathe installed just before I arrived. I had to 'share' it with one other guy as and when. His idea of taking a chuck off was to undo the dogs then shove it until it slipped off the pegs and crashed down to the slideway.
