Fly tipping

One of my neighbours uses small children to dump stuff in various places round our small estate, particularly anything he would have to pay to dump. There also seems to be a rise in the number of people who think it's OK to drop rubbish in the gutter from their cars or when they are walking.

Just been to Selby on the bike. Lowlife passenager threw a can out of a car, almost hitting me. Swung round picked up can, and caught up with them. They didnt expect it to come flying back in the car at 60mph I'll can tell you

quite agree, but when they put VIN down on paper they normally have to do something about it, well saying that its just what I was told.

Hi, Strictly speaking when you put your name down as the registered keeper on the V5 you're accepting legal responsibility for the vehicle. So when it is sold DVLA should be informed of that to basically absolve that burden. Too many people think it's not important, and then when something like this or it's involved in criminal activity or worse then they come to the last RK. Now they may accept it wasn't the last RK at fault with reasonable proof but it just gives hassle that could have been avoided.

Nearby to me is a woman who us infamous for either letting her 2 Labrador dogs crap were they want. If she is seen or confronted on it she picks the mess up in a bag.

Then either dumps it in someone else fence or hedge. Or back on the garden of the person confronting her. The authorities have been involved about her behaviour in the past.


This morning when coming back there was 2 police cars outside her house and a lot if shouting.

It turns out that person or people unknown had gathered her dogs mess and other dogs mess up and dumped it on her garden, door step, car and drive.

There is someone dumping bathroom suites near us. It can't be local bathrooms because the majority of cottages are rented and maintained by the estate.
Puzzles me though as it's eight miles from town and they are making a trip out with them
Why don't they just get a banger estate car or a single axle trailer for a car and take it to the dump for free
The fine can be a few grand and one of us will catch them sooner or later

That's the trouble waste from home improvements is classed as industrial waste and lots of councils won't accept it, so it has to go to commercial site for which there will be a charge. Usually all they will accept is a car boot full at most.

Yesterday I had to go shopping and route is down single track lanes with passing places. I noticed an old mattress, pile of tyres and loads of soil tipped. My council (Staffordshire Moorlands) is good at collecting fly tipping from the lanes but also have several excellent tips that local people can take their rubbish legally. Next council (Stoke-on-Trent) however is very strict and you can't take a van or trailer unless you have a permit first so suspect a lot of the fly tippers come from the city and we are basically the first area with dark and deserted lanes where they can dump. So, IMO, one council is pushing problem onto another !

My dustbin was emptied yesterday morning and by 14:00 hours there were two full bin bags in it - not mine So that leaves half a bin for a fortnight's rubbish.

Another weird one is the local chavs - they leave half-full pop bottles all over the place, I can see that they'd throw full ones away, but not half-full ones.

I live on a lane that's pedestrian only and is a route that school kids use to get from the next village to the high school.

Half empty pop bottles and litter are strewn everywhere, makes my blood boil!! My wife has hit the nail on the head (I think, though I won't tell her...) with the half empty bottles - it's cheaper to buy a 2 litre bottle of lemonade in our local spar than to buy a 500ml "handy size" bottle.

That occurred to me, but definitely pop, or somebody needs urgent medical attention.

One lesson I did learn though was that whilst skip-diving. Those large plastic paint buckets that come in useful should be left well alone if something heavy & soft can be felt inside by shaking the tub.

Most of the ones we see here are the larger ones. Saw one lad walking along taking a mouthful and proceeding to spit it all over the lane as he walked, not just once but all along the lane. Charming!

We get stuff dumped in the forest every now and then. It's not just at the gates it's miles into the forest, actually further in than the run to the town dump.

Heard something go whump into the grass over the road today and the voice of one of the neighbourhood flytippers while I was out the front. Half an hour later he's walking back with arms full of greenery, clocks me and takes a detour followed by his youngest dragging bin bags. 10 minutes later he goes out in his car with one of the elder boys in a van, suspect they dumped it elsewhere but not the dump! (Sorry, Recycling Centre.)

I know we all have to make a living however the price of things is getting a joke to remove waste i have used a trailer to goto the tip and last one i was advised need a license for the trailer due to its size which means 4 trips a year to the tip only

skips are expensive as ive found out often

we never had a waste charge on garden rubbish and this month it comes into force of 10.00 a month for garden waste now im all for paying for it when you buy it as fertiliser from the gardening places but paying for it being removed is another

still gets me how much we dont recycle but we pay enough for it being done

some scrappers do my tree in as they always want my scrap but i still dont get any offers to buy some gear off the back of there vehicles for the things i want even though ive asked loads for it being done

I too have noticed quite a few half full pop bottles in the gutter and sides of the road, I reckoned that it was young folks with too much money throwing them away because they had gone flat, Buy the pop when they want a drink and drink half, but don't want the rest when its been in the car a couple of days. Either gone flat or maybe no longer cold like when first bought from a cooler,

Latest fly tip from the neighbours, odd because they used to collect scrap.......

Needs one tube and a puncture repair, bit of straightening and lubrication.

In hull the council used to collect bulky household waste now they will make 1 collection then charge after that, which increased fly tipping add to that people with a commercial vehicle are only allowed to go to the tip 12 times a year even if it can be clearly seen the waste is household

12 thats luxuary! I think Lewisham limit me to four trips to the tip a year.

There should be some sort of tax on McDonalds/KFC/Subway etc etc etc wrappers. The tax could pay for an army of "unemployed" people to pick up all the rubbish..........no rubbish and lower unemployment

Al you are not being simple at all but we already have an army of unemployed people who are getting paid anyway. It annoys me that councils don't have the resources to maintain the streets yet we have 100s thousands of able bodied people on the dole. I'm sure everyones outlook would change if these people had to do 3 days community service a week to get their benefits.
