Fly tipping

I expect we have all seen the mess these indolent halfwits make when they dump their crap in the country side, today on my dog walk I passed a SPEEDBOAT dumped in the car park at Queendown warren and. LWB series land rover full roof rack and chequer plate base in the lane, about a ton of what looked like a garage clear out of vehicle bits in the entrance to the water dosing plant.WTF is wrong with these people.
There are the occasional signs placed around this area about fly tipping , see you in court etc, we need signs that say
CULLING IN PROGRESS, or is it just me being a moany old git.

I reckon there's been a big increase in fly-tipping lately due to all the Facebook buy and sell and "spotted" groups where people ask if anyone does tip runs and some unlicensed scrote pops along and says he'll do it for 20 quid cash then just drives somewhere quiet and dumps it.

Ahhh the grim world of fly tipping.. at the end of the lane I was brought up on was a tarmaced area that became a major dumping ground its been a dump for my 29 years of existance. Cameras were put up for some time and it solved the problem... until the council took them down. Ive seen everything there, the contents of an entire house, a quantity of tyres that could be described as "coming from a tyre factory that suddenly shut", caravans, a bus and much much more...

On the slight plus side, I have also found vast ammounts of goodies such as enough brown Silicone to stick the titanic back together, full oil drums and enough scrap metal to keep a scrap man happy for months.

on a few occasions ive found enough paper work to prove where the waste has come from and given it to the police, who for a change managed to prosicute. But the best one was an old asian chap who turned up at the start of the lane, dropped the back of his trailer and proceeded to empty his load of bricks whilst driving down the lane. Unlucky for him I was on my way back from the pub and one swift phone call had him stopped by the local elders, questioned (but not tortured) and forcefully asked to pick them all back up and bugger off to the tip. It must have taken him about 3 hours to pick them all up and get them back in his trailer.

No it ticks me off as well, same as people who don't take their rubbish away after a picnic, they take the trouble to put it in a plastic carrier bag, then hang it on a tree, and no, its not a Richard the III in the bag cos they just dump next to where they had their picnic and don't bother covering or burying it.
Then there are the hunters out there-the self styled "guardians of the country side" who leave cigarette packets/biscuit wrappers/beer cans etc along the roadside.
Any flytipping round here is gone through, and if they find any evidence of where the rubbish came from, the owner gets a fine and costs of clear up.
What ticks me off even worse, is that if you decided to grab the roof rack and chequer plate to recycle it in your workshop, plod or some other federale would catch you and accuse you of dumping it.

One of my neighbours uses small children to dump stuff in various places round our small estate, particularly anything he would have to pay to dump. There also seems to be a rise in the number of people who think it's OK to drop rubbish in the gutter from their cars or when they are walking.

is there no thing where people who remove waste have to be registered to do so? in that it if something is found in the waste like a letter then the owner of that address can be prosecuted for using a non registered waste carrier, if they are registered then the owner has just provided the name of the company that dropped the waste...

or is that far to logical for this country?

In hull the council used to collect bulky household waste now they will make 1 collection then charge after that, which increased fly tipping add to that people with a commercial vehicle are only allowed to go to the tip 12 times a year even if it can be clearly seen the waste is household

it peees me right off people flinging papers out of vehicles and people dumping crap but the council ask for it sometimes . I had a garage clear out as well as the garden and house I couldn't go in my van without a permit . if I took a car and trailer it only has to have 2 wheels 4 wheel trailer not allowed . its 20 quid to drop bricks concrete and windows and old kitchens in said car and trailer .I want aklowed in at any cost as some of the stuff was old electrical fittings and trade waste and was told to dispose of it using a waste carrier well balls to that burnt all the plastic and wood and all the rest went in to sealed bags and a mate took them down the tip 4 me and the rest gets put in the wheelie bin 2 bags a week so now we know why some people just tip it cos they get pi..ssed off . those that can take it to the tip without hassle are just dirty lazy sods and want hammering

Well, decent folks would pay for a skip or Hippo Bags. The problem is people have building work done, and the builders won't dump the rubbish down the tip because they will have to pay to do so, so they either bury it in the lawn or bung it down a lane somewhere.

How difficult is to use Hippo Bags, you buy the things which includes the collection charge at the DIY sheds, fill em, call em, and take em away. Of course, the glitch in that is buy - pay.
What escapes those muppets, is that for a small sum, you fill the bags, then instead of loading crap on vehicle, then trying to go covert ops to dump it, you sit back sipping cold ones and let the system take em away.
No mess, no stress.

On a similar vein, my grouse is dog owners that pick up the mess in a plastic bag & then leave it hanging on the bushes or the fence. We live alongside a footpath & I am forever finding bags of crap left hanging on my fence. I don't know who these people think will come along & take it away for them, we don't have a dogcrap fairy in our area. It would be a lot better really if they didn't bag it, at least it would rot down, in bags it stays forever.

It's made far worse by the utter stupidity of the councils. They make it so difficult to actually use the tips by having short opening hours, too few days open, height/vehicle restrictions and so on. Plus charging for disposal of some stuff. Oh, and you have to have it all sorted out into different types.

It may be wrong, but it's not surprising so many dump it instead. Some intellectually challenged people in the councils must not figure that it's cheaper to allow people to dispose of waste at the tip than to pick it up after it's been flytipped, and still dispose of it after...

Yes there are rules, but not only are people not aware of them but those who operate without a waste carriers licence are likely to lie if asked. Can you really expect everybody to call a firm in, ask for their waste carriers number and then phone the Environment Agency to confirm the person is legit?

The funny thing with rubble is that there are many places who'd love it - I know places what can't afford to buy it and would gladly take what people want rid of - come here!

My dustbin was emptied yesterday morning and by 14:00 hours there were two full bin bags in it - not mine So that leaves half a bin for a fortnight's rubbish.

Another weird one is the local chavs - they leave half-full pop bottles all over the place, I can see that they'd throw full ones away, but not half-full ones.

You can take almost anything to our tip, driving what you want no restrictions. And theres very little fly tipping. Funny that.
In fact the only two things I can think of you cant tip off are tyres and asbestos, although your ok taking flat squares of rubber in. Takes me ages to bandsaw them up too.

It's true that recycle site make it difficult to dispose of rubbish, it would be better if they made them more accessible and even made a small charge for large and unusual items, we must however remember that we voted the councillors in, I knew one in plymouth and he would be unemployable elsewhere, when he was my neighbor I saw him deflating his car tyres , when I asked him wtf he was doing he said he was declared bankrupt and he was making it difficult for the car repossess what a ****, I will Pm anyone his name if you are in plymouth.

There should be some sort of tax on McDonalds/KFC/Subway etc etc etc wrappers. The tax could pay for an army of "unemployed" people to pick up all the rubbish..........no rubbish and lower unemployment

There should also be some way of stopping supermarkets putting additional packaging on things. For hygeiene reasons I like to see sausages etc in sealed packs but I dont need a cardboard sleeve telling me they are sausages. There are hundreds of similar examples.

Our tip also has numerous restrictions and seems to open when they feel like it. Ive been a few times and seen fly tipping outside. I now have a standard ploy.........turn up throw the stuff in the general skip whilst being shouted at by the tip towncrier and then ask him what he said and at the same time telling him Im a bit deaf.
