There should be some sort of tax on McDonalds/KFC/Subway etc etc etc wrappers. The tax could pay for an army of "unemployed" people to pick up all the rubbish..........no rubbish and lower unemployment

The tax dodging bustards would then be complaining about loss of revenue

Oh, and you have to have it all sorted out into different types.

I don't find that a problem at our tip, you just bung it in the marked skips, no real hassle, one thing I notice over here, is that ths staff at the tips see it as they are providing a service you have paid for in your rates and are helpful,
when I was in the UK, the tip staff acted like they were doing you a bleedin favour "wotya fink this is? a bleedin rubbish dump?".

On a similar vein, my grouse is dog owners that pick up the mess in a plastic bag & then leave it hanging on the bushes or the fence.

I used to walk my adopted French howndawg along an old railway track walk when visiting my mum in the UK. He weighed 4 stone, and when he dumped his logs took no prisoners, I had a folding entrenching tool, disinfectant and loads of carrier bags in my backpack, coz he didn't just dump once, he went on a space bombing run, I had about 3lbs extra in the pack by the end of the walk.
Anyway, one barbour coated and wellied woman sez to me "aire, dou you always take it with you? "yes" sez me "aire, how awwwful" sez her and hangs her bag (Harrods of course, coz they are full of sh-where was I) on a branch..
Anyway, one day, she copped a degraded bag right under the chin. And, wait for it- phoned home putting the phone right in the brown zone.
Makes you wonder on rare occasions like that, that, maybe there is an all seeing being up there who occasionally deals out a bit of retribution.

It's made far worse by the utter stupidity of the councils. They make it so difficult to actually use the tips by having short opening hours, too few days open, height/vehicle restrictions and so on. Plus charging for disposal of some stuff. Oh, and you have to have it all sorted out into different types.

It may be wrong, but it's not surprising so many dump it instead. Some intellectually challenged people in the councils must not figure that it's cheaper to allow people to dispose of waste at the tip than to pick it up after it's been flytipped, and still dispose of it after...



Yes there are rules, but not only are people not aware of them but those who operate without a waste carriers licence are likely to lie if asked. Can you really expect everybody to call a firm in, ask for their waste carriers number and then phone the Environment Agency to confirm the person is legit?

im not saying that people have to ring and check but a proper lisence sort of thing that can be seen, if companies are proud that they are following the rules then they would happy to proove they are legit. some advertising to spread the word would be great.

My daughter worked at a McDonalds for a while. When I used to wait for her at night often I'd see a pair of McDonalds workers going around the whole retail park, not just the McD car park, collecting rubbish.

Yep, and I have seen the KFC kids do that as well .And with a smile on their face as well.

We had a neighbour who used to use part of some land down the track from us to take rubbish from those sort of people who you cant name, charge them to burn it up, now it wasnt their land, a bypass by the side of it, and for ever people were phoning the fire brigade due to smoke on the road etc(I didnt call anyone) geuss what, the fire brigade gave them the station tel.no. and said call us when burning up so we know its you.........this went on for years and years even reported to national park ,and they were to afraid to do anything about it.Arther

Quite right around the outlets its not too bad its everywhere else thats a problem. Children meals, why put some crappy toy in it to go for landfill. would not be so bad if it was something useful like a pencil and notepad.

Some years ago, I was in a winter warfare unit in Norway. Pristine Scandinavian rules applied. All our rations and kit came in cardboard boxes. So we had special skips for different gash. Anyway, the volume of the cardboard exceeded the capacity of the skip because the toms were not tearing the boxes up and compressing em.
So, measures were called for. Step one was to tell the comimisoned ossfers that the cardboard was edible and was for emergency escape and evasion rations. Small deletion in the chuck outs.
Next, step 2, was our supply colour man, hid in the skip with a cardboard box with two eyeholes cut in it on his bonce. First tom to bung in an empty box and he unwinds like a hooded cobra-GOT YER!
Sorted.
So we could just put the armed forces (if we got any left) out there to sort it, they got knack all else to do.

My Dad works at a Mcdonalds and twice a week he has to do a rubbish walkabout, every path and road within 2 miles is walked litter picking, takes him about 5 hours, says he enjoys the exercise......

that can be said of anything you purchase though, be it fast food or a pack of sausage rolls from a supermarket, once it has been sold its down to how responcible the end user is

a lady friend of mine saw a blond mrs bmw throwing all her crap tins and boxes in the carpark outside her flat she went out and picked them up and promptly threw them back in her car the words were take your f ....g rubbish home with u ya scruffy slag or il stuff it down your throat I laughed because she is a bit feisty. she saw her friend getting robbed on holiday ran over punched him in the face knocked him over then kicked him in the nuts

Fly tipper near me got found out, court found him guilty but was not allowed to remove his waste carriers licence because they aren't allowed to remove a persons means of making a living.

I now have a standard ploy.........turn up throw the stuff in the general skip whilst being shouted at by the tip towncrier and then ask him what he said and at the same time telling him Im a bit deaf.

They can show their waste carriers licence, most people with one probably have a copy in the vehicle. But not that many people will be aware of that, and fewer still will be bothered.
