I was finally ready to spray the 1k metalic basecoat on my bike fairing. Its old paint, it does not seem very metalic any more. I have plenty left for future panels. Can I buy aluminium flake to bring the metalic effect back? There is some on ebay but looks far too big/glittery.
I filtered the whole tub with 190 micron filter nothing was caught which didnt wash through with thinner.
Any tips or critisism welcome! Here is the first coat on fairing. I think I moved too quick so it was dry/orange peel. Difficult getting the speed and distance right, any rules of thumb or just more practise?
It seemed best with 50-60 psi at compressor and ~35 at gun.
After 3 coats Im calling the base done.
From what I read, metalic base should not be sanded/flattened. Started to rain so no clear today. Its got some dust so I will panel wipe tomorrow before about 6 coats of clear?
