Will 2k thinners be good on 1k or are they different?

What does the TDS say?

I always use the recommended thinners etc.
The TDS should also give the gun set up required.
You should be spraying light coats of the base coat (certainly the last) otherwise the flake can sink into the paint layer and disappear.

I use that Tetrosol thinner for cleaning out the gun so I would buy it anyway.

I don't know, I always buy the "paint/thinner" combo recommended in the data sheet for base and clear.

Ok I am probably not doing 2k this year, but it would make sense to buy just one 5l bottle than several small bottles. There is one ebay shop nearby Ive asked if I can collect from.

This is old paint from halfords, no TDS just what they told me, and they said cellulose thinners, which is what Ive used so far.

Halfords should supply a TDS and SDS. (The SDS is a legal requirement.)

However, you need anti bloom cellulose thinners and 5l of the standard cellulose thinners which is just gun cleaner.
It will work for cleaning 2K paint and you will (should) use lots if you want your kit to last.

id order something from a proper paint supply place and all the thinners and clear coat to go with from same place , ask for tech sheets

Found a proper paint shop, slightly further to cycle, bought 5L of universal thinners, stirrers and mixing cups.

Yes Im quite sure I mixed, and sprayed the metalic incorrectly. I will continue with this for now, with more experince I will buy the proper stuff. Halfords no longer do the mixed paint, so they wont have TDS's.

That's what we're here for. There is so much terminology used in the auto paint business which I'm sure is there to confuse the novice

I mixed up the base at 1:1 with thinner, its like water. Testing on a peice of abs:

For the drop coat I would turn the pressure down. Otherwise I agree with the suggestion of more distance and moving quickly.

That looks a mess. Are you sure that is celly base coat?

If it is turn the paint adjuster down a lot.

No that was wet. These are dry

That was 1.5-2 turns out, 40 psi and about 3/4 on the fan, am I close?

Interesting David. I turn the pressure right up for a drop. Fast and distant.
