it was plenty good enough, popped out a treat 
it is a gnats too tight to go on the motor so I have put it back in the lathe and put a boring bar into the toolpost. Rather than making further testicles out of it, I have spied my friendly toolmaker neighbour and after he has finished spreading muck he will drop by to have a look. If it is off centre then I guess a taper bush may be the way to go? <sigh!>

My neighbour has been around, verdict is that is slightly off centre, probably cause that I used a straight blade adjustable reamer from 18mm, fortunately I used a helical drill from 17 to 18mm or it would be worse. Ideally I should bored it out or at least used a helical reamer which wouldn't have fallen into the keyway as easily.
He's taking it to work to true it up and see how much off centre it is, he think it's about 0.1 to 0.2 mm at the front edge, could be a tad more at the back as the reamer defelcted. There isn't much meat for a taper bush but he thinks it is salvageable, just.
Lesson learned!

Consider loosing keyway locking totally and going with compression..?

It its only a gnats I'll broach the key way out.
If its FUBAR, given the pulley doesn't have enough meat in it to bore it out for a taper bush, I'll just by a twin or triplet pulley already bored out for a taper bush, I can get a 19mm taper bush with keyway so job done. As I'm using a VFD, I think I will only need two belt ratios. Four is great but I will probably only use two or three, the the bottom 3 as it is at low speed where motors lose their grunt.

Well it is off centre by about 0.5mm and slightly more on the other side where it deflected. so off centre and off kilter 
So I'm having it bored out straight to 25mm which is about the maximum we can get out of it. So a taper bush is out of the question as they need 30mm+.
I'm thinking of a 25mm sleeve with a 2.5 x 6mm keyway and making it out of brass so it's easier to cut the keyway. A nice tight fit, warm up the pulley and bond it in with locktite. From memory it is about 60mm deep so plenty of surface to bond to and can probably drop a couple of grub screws in too. The other way is to make it like a top hat and put a couple of fixings in the end of the pulley which may be easier than grub screws.
It's frustrating working away during the week, I could be making the bush ready for when the pulley gets back. I still need to make up the key way tool. The missus is away this weekend on a soil improvement course, part of her permaculture plans for the farm so I'll be looking after the kids so looks like a couple of weeks before I will get around to it

Nice one Bob, just in time. It has been squared up and bored out to 24mm and one of these is on order which came up when I searched for keyed sleeve https://inverterdrive.com/group/Gearbox-Accessories/TEC-Sleeve-adaptor-19mm-to-24mm/
Whether I put an 8mm keyway in the pulley or use some other way of fixing is TBD

I'm just about to get around to it, I bought an 8mm broach as I have another motor to swap on the Tom Senior M1 and a neighbour has one to do, all 24mm shaft size so we went halves making it just about affordable.
Thanks for the offer, I shall know if I get a different size to do.
Before I do it, I will make the fly press stand, will only take a day. But currently wrestling with T&E, insulation and plasterboard. I'm hoping to get around to it next weekend.

Yes, I bought the guide, spacers and extension at the same time
I shall let you know how I get on, I'm doing plaster boarding this weekend so I can empty the barn of plaster board, insulation and other building materials to allow me to drop some stuff out of the workshop into the barn. Then I can finish tidying up the workshop so fabricating the fly press stand will be a pleasure rather than a chore
