I had a crack in the block on a Perkins 4203, the recommended repair was metal stitching, although I replaced the engine as that was cheaper.
Cast iron presumably?

aluminium oxide best for cleaning paint/rust/grime off steel/cast iron/tin parts?
the aluminium oxide can be re used over and over expendable only about twice and is messy just sieve the dust out of itCan the media be reused if its collected? Might have a punt on one, i know they are not the best, but its only for light duty use
I bought a professional syphon gun with a tungsten carbide nozzle to replace my Machine Mart one, it was about £50 from Anglo Scott Abrasives of Wigan. Worth every penny extra.

Looks exactly the same as the mm one. Is it the silver one you went for?
