I'm going to try the other, rougher side of the plate tonight.

I've found out that scrubbing a build plate doesn't do the surface any favours, either. Tried a different brand of filament last night, which bonded to the plate like glue, but wasn't going down consistently, so I cancelled the print. Scraped it off, but loads had bonded in the pits, so I scrubbed it. That side of the build plate now has a couple of smooth spots.

I'll admit, the reason I didn't try the other, rougher, side of the plate first is because I didn't realise both sides were different textures. It's basically a bigger version of the Centauri build plate. That'll teach me to check in future.

Running a test print on it now. Hopefully this one will succeed.



I dialled in the bed levelling last night, & I've just tweaked the Z offset slightly before starting this print.



If that completes successfully, that'll be a vat cover for the Saturn printer.

I feel like I'm back in the days of my Ender 5 Pro. These have turned up today.



Silicon bushes, to replace the metal springs on the bed height adjusters. Also this webcam:



to attach to the printer. Apparently it's possible to enable the webcam service in Klipper, on these printers.

I've been trying to sort an issue with its sensorless homing, too. It doesn't have a X limit switch, & there is a noted issue with these where they don't stop when the head reaches the endstop, so the belt starts skipping. The latest firmware supposedly sorts the issue, but installed that last night, & it doesn't. I did note, however, that when it happens, if I apply slight hand pressure to the head to push it away from the endstop, it was fine. So, before starting this print, I stuck a couple of silicon feet to the endstop, thinking that when the head reaches those, those should compress slightly, then push back, achieving the same result as my pushing the head away from the endstop. They actually seem to work.
