While I am here... Does phosphoric acid come as a liquid or powder. If powder, is it also on the bay?
Got un-lazy and looked. So liquid..

Why? One needs a bit of current.Bulb in series to limit current ?
Paul, Is not brushing effectively shorting out the current? Or do you mean leaving it for a while in static 'contact' as opposed to moving around during brushing.yes brush negative, the bristles are conductive so arrange for something non conductive to place it on or in when you put it down to save shorting out the power supply and damaging the brush,
About 5amps works I’ve read
It is but your keeping the bristles wet in use with the acid which prevents damaging them. What Paul is saying don’t put it down on the job in dead short. It’s not good for it just to hold it on dead short. Things will get hot. It’s gets hot in use.Paul, Is not brushing effectively shorting out the current? Learning curve for me here.
Probably spot on. My charger puts out 12-22v At 4 amps. I doubt small variations will make any difference.Ah, my transformer says 3 amps at 20.5 v, so worth a try.

I think some wire wools contain steel among other metals. I’d guess it’s probably not the best to pasivate stainless with due to possibly contamination. Not 100% sure tbh.I wonder if wire wool would work in place of the brush? It's a bit more disposable than a brush.
Yeah it’s only little. I’d sleeve the copper handle if I was you. I put some rubber pipe over mine. Just saves accidents happening and it does get quite warm if you do a bit.I was quite surprised how small the eBay brush is
Same problem as using a wire brush as in post 35 I reckon, can't hurt to try it though.Would it be possible to make a brush from a piece of welding cable, with the strands splayed out to form the bristles?
