Not a new thing but I met up with @HughF at the weekend who gave me some tips, advice and donated a 12v battery charger to make up a little machine for properly pasivating stainless steel after welding.
I’ve always been of the mind set that to do this you needed nasty chemicals or serious money for a proper machine and solution. Not the case. Hugh hooked up the machine with a carbon conductive brush and some solution (1 part phosphoric acid to 3 parts water). Pretty much harmless solution.
Any way I’ve got my own carbon brush tonight and I’ve been playing away. I’ll never use that pickle paste again. 15-30 seconds to completely passivate a 4” weld. Any way less talk .....
