I don't think I would have paid for it. You asked a question, they either didn't check properly or downright lied to you about having none in stock in order to sell you a more expensive product.
Trust / morals etc work both ways. But then if its somewhere you use on a regular basis then I suppose it would be awkward.

I dread to think what the supermarkets are like today

Went past the big Sainsburys earlier, and it didnt look any busier than usual.
The Tesco Metro in town on the other hand, had a queue right down the road.

Last nights news didn't help.

Management finally decided on the colours for the kitchen. Great, lets crack on.

Went to B&Q yesterday to find the paint aisles ransacked. Tried to order online at Dulux Decorating Centre - website had crashed. B&Q click and collect let you get right to the bit you need to pay before saying oh, we have 0 stock of that. How about a garden table instead?
Wickes had none.
So lucky me has a trip to Homebase in Hull to get 2 tins, Selby to get 1 tin and she's off to Sheffield to get another.

Looking for some fence paint last April, same then, world gone crazy and I paid £50 for 5 gallons.

Two months later I had run out, so bought the exact same again...... for half the price, and got a second tub free.......

But that is no good if the shops are shut, we are supposed to be having a ceiling taken down and replaced on Monday followed by skimming out the kitchen and re fit over the next two weeks. Meeting with project manager on Monday morning, it ain't going to happen unless he can show me a van full of materials.

I thought it was all non food was to shut like last time, obviously I hope not.
We had planned to eat out several nights over the fortnight but wont be able to do that now, we have only been to one restaurant all year so were looking forward to it, a bit like been on holiday for two weeks.

Most of them didn't need to shut first time bit did while they got systems in place

This time round there shouldn't be a pause

Systems are in place already.

Wales builders merchants are still open and hears from Travis they will be.

Can't see b and q and Wickes closing unless they absolutely have to .

5:30 on a Saturday I thought I'd better get a pot, they shut at 6. I could have decided not to (I don't need 5 litres!) but then I run the risk of everywhere else being out of stock as they were recently for Pure Brilliant White.

The shop is literally a stones throw (with a catapult) so when someone asks if I can do a job, I nip into Leylands because they're so handy. I'm not about to cut off my nose to spite my face but I will let them know the customer is always right.

That’s fair enough. Like you said before, at the end of the day customers paying so at least you don’t lose out personally.
These trade places annoy me , had a young guy doing some work for me privately and I just happened to see an invoice he had left out from a timber supplier. ( wasn’t for my job ) . He had basically paid 40% more for 3 x 3 timbers than I had paid about 3 days before . I asked him about and his thinking was that because he has a credit account with them that’s why it cost more. I gave him a bit of advice about phoning round for prices then getting his supplier to match them or beat them.
