mines the polygon shaper so a fixed head base and the bed moves across
ive taken the handle off and put a ball on side of it and used one of them to do the stroke
im just showing there is 2 versions that can be used with them sort of shapers
mine also has reverse so at end it can come back as long as something knocks the ratchet over so it will reverse
as goes for performing well not a problem as its the same depth chosen as you would do by hand

A few more bits cleaned & waxed.
That handwheel is from a Roundbed, to replace the feed handle which was missing.
Had to clean that handwheel by hand, due to it having an irremovable wooden handle. It's turned out quite nice though, considering the condition it was in.
I'll need to make a sleeve for it when I fit it. The bore is slightly larger than the shaft it's going on.

It makes a surface flat by moving a fixed cutter over the work and then the workpiece will move over incrementally. It was used alot back in the day for doing ways and tops on machines.Can I ask what a Shaper does please?
(I never heard of one, never seen one, and interested, that's all)

.Where I work has a rotary Head Facer machine for refacing/skimming vehicle cylinder heads and engine blocks (cutter head adjusts up/down and carriage with piece mounted on motors horizontally side-to-side basically.
Also I'm aware of Milling Machines and "Surface Planer" for making metal surfaces perfectly flat - but a "Shaper" is something entirely new in my ignorant state

I truly do hope so. I'll be gutted if not.
Just need to fettle all the nuts, bolts & screws, & then I should be starting reassembly.
